Kwame Alexander is a positive force in children's & young adult literature. He advocates for literacy for all wherever he goes. This alone makes me want to buy everything he writes. Here is a "self-help" book for kids! Through personal narratives, stories of famous athletes, photographs and quotations, this book will inspire young readers. It makes clear that dreams require work and dedication in order to bear fruit. Even so, Alexander does not overwhelm his readers. The page count is a little deceptive, in a good way. Kids feel good about carrying around a book with some heft, but font size, white space and photographs help keep the stories moving at a quick clip. His sense of humor and ability to be self-deprecating as well as self-satisfied appeal to readers of all ages.

Both myself and 12 yr old son are fans of Kwame Alexander. Read all of his books for boys coming of age. We purchase his books each year as they are released. I now give as gifts to other boys involved in sports.

My son had to read this book over the summer for his middle school . I love it use sports with everyday analogy and it is something they can relate too He is a struggling reader so I hope this peaks his interest. Great book.

Another wonderful book by Kwame Alexander! I teach 7th grade English and coach and my students and I both love the lessons and inspiration this book provides. I gave copies of it to all my friends who coach.

My son loved it! It's always hard to get him to read but he loves Kwame Alexander books. He finds them easy to read and enjoyable.

Fantastic, inspirational positive writing for all,especially the young people as soon as you open the book it almost drags you in its that inviting with the illustrations and feel of the quality of the book. This will definitely be a book to keep for ever that will be pulled off the shelves time and time again. I Bought it for my 11 year old who loves basketball and his 9 year old brother who is not as interested in books tried to take it to read it causing an argument. It is done in a way where a adult can also relate and get joy. I never realised a book could give so much.
