High quality! Amazing price! Will reorder
Can't beat this price! I bought smaller packages in 3 different flavors. I specifically wanted freeze-dried treats since usually they crumble easily, and I mix them into the dog's food, rotating flavors. I have seen some negative reviews on freeze-dried treats before because they are too crumbly, but that's what I wanted! These, however, are less crumbly then I was expecting, which is good for most purposes. They are still able to be crumbled or pulled apart and the dogs LOVE them. They weren't eating breakfast, and we would have to bring it to the office for the dogs to eat when they got hungry enough. My little dog is a picky eater and would pick at her food unless she was starving. I thought to myself, "if I ate the same thing for every single meal, and had 10x the smelling and tasting power than a human, I wouldn't be excited about eating either!" So I decided to add flavoring that alternates between meals. It has WORKED! They always are so excited to eat breakfast and my little dog scarfs up her dinner. I think it is also helping the bigger dog to get the nutrition he needs - he's overweight, so we cut his food amount back. Recommendations on weight loss food for dogs says that it should have a very low amount of fat, and very high protein - we couldn't afford a higher protein content dog food (literally $70+ for a 30 lb bag) so I think these treats help him to get that.

Cats love it, and it gets them to eat any food.
We go through a lot of these. Crumble it up and sprinkle it on any food they're refusing to eat and it's like magic, they'll eat it. The larger the bag the better the value. As others have mentioned the bottom of the bag is full of crumbles but since that's how I use this stuff anyway, it's perfect for me. If you're wanting to give chunks as chewable treats, be aware that it's the nature of the packaging and know what you're getting. Don't ding the manufacturer for it.

My cat
LOVES THESE. as other reviewers suggested the branded dog treats are a better value than the branded cat ones & seem to be the same product. Since cats are obligate carnivores while dogs are closer to omnivores it's arguable these are better cat "toppers" for the crude protein content (still higher than necessary even for cats ~64%). These are not cheap, subjective to each animals' taste/ dietary needs, & as other reviewers have pointed out freeze dried (therefore some contaminants can remain because this is 100% meaty meat). Also let's be real- we're feeding our pets duck liver. We obviously really care about them. Overall my 9 year old, healthy, shelter cat really likes these. The liver varies in size from flattened peas to large flattened cherries. They didn't arrive crumbled but i actually crumble about 1 tbsp & mix them with her kibble. Usually she's not very picky though. Haven't tried any other purebites brand "toppers" but am sold on trying others so she can have more varied TREATS. I'd give the duck liver 4 stars because it's $8/2.6 oz. Rant/PSA : Please remember even though we care for our animals a lot we aren't veterinary nutritionists & these are marketed as treats & only treats. Even cats (relatives of lions, tigers, jaguars, oh my!) don't need 64% crude protein content.

Good quality simple snack, but not my cat favorite flavor
I actually have a cat, not a dog. But PureBites are basically just dried meat/liver, so I don't see any difference between the cat and dog treat; and the dog ones usually come in bigger bags and cost less per ounce. These treats are plain dried duck liver, with a medium-strong scent very typical to liver; as far as I could smell, to liver seems good quality. The pieces range from small to big chunks, but they can be easily broken up in smaller bits; most of the pieces were whole, with some dusting at the bottom. The duck liver bits are more crumbly and powdery when broken down that the meat assortments. For my cat I needed to crumble most of the pieces, I don't mind that I have to broke them into pieces (is very easy). From what I could tell, she kind of liked the taste, but not the texture (maybe); she barely touched most of the chunks, but she eat the dusting and the small pieces (the ones as small as kibbles). From the PureBites rand my cat definitely prefers more the salmon, chicken and shrimp varieties (cat or dog treats). I like that I'm able to find for my cat treats with plain, great quality natural ingredients. It's cheaper to cook her raw meat/liver, but I also like the convenience. The bag is from a sturdy plastic and the ziploc seals very well. Note: Product delivered in January 2019 has an expiration date in 2021.

I bought these for an older small dog. Our old man is 14 yrs old and 12 lbs. At this point he won't eat anything hard. I decided to give these a try since he loves the beef liver but now is having a hard time chewing it. This is great! It's softer & he loves the taste

Picky kitty destroys the bag
I have a cat that is terribly picky about food and treats. He does NOT like crunchy things, nor does he like chewy things. When we put down wet food, he eats the gravy and nibbles only a few pieces before wandering away. Then a few years ago he gave himself a bladder blockage due to excessive licking... the vet suggested some liver treats that were processed and reformed into nuggets. Annoying (but adorable) kitty was already eating the PureBites chicken breast, so I thought "why not give it a shot?" It took a couple of pieces for him to get used to the flavor, and now it's constant begging if I go into the drawer these are hidden in. He has chewed open a bag that was left unattended in the Amazon box for 15 minutes. Liver dust everywhere! Then the next bag, he pulled it off the shelf it was being stored on and chewed off the closure. Now I know better and it has a plastic container once it arrives. The 2 other kitties like it as well, but not to this extent. Annoying Kitty will let me fine tooth comb his long fluffy soft belly fur for a couple of treats.

Great...but many treats crushed inside upon arrival
The treats are great, both my dogs love them. That alone would make it a 5 star review. But because the treats are freeze dried, they are very brittle. My package arrived in an Amazon box with no visible signs of damage. However, the majority of the treats in the bag were crushed. Some in nickel-sized chunks, some as slivers, and the rest as dust. It is not easy to give dust as a treat (without just putting it in your palm and letting them lick it off). I am hoping this was just a bad bag, and I plan to order them again to see.
