Like most of Scruton's writings, this in not just a good book but something more. An expression of a unique and exquisite mind. Scruton had the rare ability to write prose which is simultaneously thought provoking and lucid. It feels both light and profound at the same time. As always, his accounts amuse, please, elucidate, nurture, and touche the reader.

A wonderful,wonderful book,Scruton. Is a wonderful writer and this currently tie with his "England an elegy" as my favorite.

A great mind. This book is autobiographical. Amazingly written, witty, lots of humor and full of self-irony and in the style Scruton. A must read!
