A Book About Christ For ALL Christians
"He Chose the Nails: What God Did to Win Your Heart" by Max Lucado is a fantastic book about the Savior’s Atonement and what it means for us in our lives. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it was enlightening to read literature about Jesus Christ from a person of faith in a different Christian denomination than my own. I’ve read many texts written by members of the LDS church and wanted a new, inspiring perspective on the Atonement. Max did not disappoint.Max Lucado did a phenomenal job making the principles of Christ’s Atonement—an often abstract topic—personal for me as a reader. He shared unique parables, entertaining personal stories, and eternal principles that taught about Christ in an easy-to-understand way that invited the Spirit of God to testify of its surety. I appreciated his inclusion of scriptural passages and words spoken by Christ Himself as he discussed the sobering events that made up the three-part Atonement of Jesus Christ. My particular favorite chapter in the book (SPOILER ALERT) was the seventh chapter titled "I Will Not Abandon You." In this chapter Max shares a modernized version of the parable of the Prodigal Son which is equally as stirring as the original given by Christ Himself. The modern take on this well known parable made it all the more relatable and helped me see this parable in a new light.Although I appreciated his unique writing style, fun stories and jokes, and quality commentary, I deeply appreciated how Max stuck to the universal basics of the Passion. He taught from the scriptures and expounded them in simple ways even a twelve year-old in Sunday School could understand. This is great because it allows this book to connect with all believers of Jesus Christ. Though what he taught wasn’t new, the way he presented the Gospel is worth reading. I recommend this book to anyone who reads this review. 5/5 stars.

A book that keeps you thinking long after you finish it.
One of the things I really love about this book is Lucado’s writing style. He has this way of telling stories from everyday life and weaving them into the message of the Crucifixion. It makes the whole idea of Christ’s suffering feel more personal, like you can actually relate it to your own life.If you’re looking to deepen your understanding of the Crucifixion, I would definitely recommend He Chose the Nails. It’s an easy read, but it’s also full of meaning and spiritual depth. It’s a great reminder of how much Jesus did for us, and it’s a book that will leave you thinking long after you finish.Kyra C

Awesome book by Max Lucado
He Chose the Nails was such a cool book to read. I learned a lot of interesting principles about Christ's infinite love and His sacrifice on the cross. He also brought in some stories of people with common life problems to build a better connection to the reader. I believe Max Lucado did a good job writing about the crucifixion and connecting it to everyday life for us. I got some great insights from reading this book, and would highly recommend it to others looking to better understand, Christ's infinite love for us.

Excellent study of the journey of Christ
Excellent study of the journey of Christ to His death and resurrection. You will truly understand the journey and the suffering He endured for sinners. You feel His pain and realize it’s for you He died and was resurrected. It is all for you. I gave it four stars because it was an earlier copy than the one we were studying. And the order and chattering did not fit the newer study guide. So, when buying used books check the copyright date for later editions.

He Did it All for Us
I've been reading a lot more Christian and inspirational books lately and I really wanted to read a book about the crucifixion for Easter weekend. I found this one and had never read anything by Max Lucado before, but know that he is a well-known author, so I purchased it and read it over Easter weekend. He Chose the Nails is a book about understanding why Jesus chose the nails and God's love for us. This book has 15 chapters, each with a different title and subject, and most of the chapters contain anecdotes from the author. Lucado uses his wit to help us see how everyday situations, such as the ones he describes, relate to God's love. Even though the author uses a witty tone to describe his personal experiences, the rest of the book is told in a serious and thought-provoking manner. Each chapter starts out with a couple Bible verses using various translations such as the New International Version (NIV), New Living Translation (NLT), The Living Bible (TLB), New Revised Standard Version (NRSV), as well as some others. There are also some quotations from authors and famous speakers that pertain to that particular chapter's subject.I really enjoyed this book and it is a great choice to read if you want to understand more about God's love for us and why Jesus chose the nails. It's fairly short and the book itself ends at 70%. The rest of the book is a study guide for each of the chapters. You could read this any time of the year but I found it particularly enlightening and thought-provoking to read during the Easter season. It helped me to understand how much God loves us and more about the Bible. I'd never read anything by Max Lucado before but I would like to check out some of his other books because I love how he writes and engages his readers. If you would like to read more about God's love for us, I highly recommend this book!
