Military-Grade Rust PreventionModeled after Military Specifications: MIL-PRF-16173, Grade 4 and MIL-C-83933.Application:IMPORTANT #1: Make sure your surface is clean and dry (not oily or greasy) to ensure best possible adhesion.IMPORTANT #2: RP-342 is a heavily-concentrated rust preventive. For best results, each spray can should be shaken vigorously for about 2 minutes to ensure a uniform coat. The aerosol cans should also be shaken intermittently during longer application sessions.GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - Spray a generous, even coating on your surface and let dry. While a single coating will provide exceptional protection, additional coats can be applied if desired. If applying multiple coats, always let previous coats dry completely before applying the next coat. Ideally, it’s always preferable and recommended to apply over a non-rusted surface, however, RP-342 can be applied over moderate surface rust. RP-342 will prevent surface rust from spreading. RP-342 should not be applied over flaking or pitted rust…..these advanced types of rust should be treated prior to applying RP-342. The typical first application dry film thickness is 2.0 Mils (51 Microns).Common Applications Include (but are not limited to):- Vehicle undercarriage / undercoating (cars, buses, trucks, etc.) - the most popular application!- Parts & equipment storage- Overseas transportation- Heavy machinery & equipment (storage & in-use applications)- Packaging- Dies, molds, lathes, shafts and beams- Offshore drilling equipment, platforms & infrastructure- Farm implements- Boat shafts and propellers- Marine fittings- Rifle & other firearms preservation / storage- Garden tools & lawn mower blades- 1,000s of applications! Reliably protects any surface that might rust on you!

RP-342
I bought this to undercoat my 2019 Toyota Tundra. I didn’t want rubberized stuff because when I did that on my last truck it flaked off and the truck still rusted. This stuff seems to stick really well. It seems to go on thin and runs if you put it on too thick. That’s what I expected. I plan to do another coat after a week or so just to make sure I get everything. I used about three cans on about 90%of the frame. I plan on coating just about everything under the truck because Wisconsin winters are rough on vehicles and I hate rust. I bought the stupid nine pack and should have spent an extra $10 to get free shipping along with three more cans.

It’s US,.. ...or, RUST!
This product has been around for longer than I can remember,. and it’s been “proven-positive”on its results,!Only drawback, is the red-spray-straws that are inserted into the nozzle tends to “pop-out” when applying the cosmoline in hard to reach areas where slight bending is often done, I’ve found a simple solution that keeps them in place from “popping-out” is by applying “Hot-melt-glue” to the nozzle around the inserted straw (*way before using the-new full cosmoline spray can,*) ....let-cool, down, this has helped from loosing many straws inside the body cavities.!

Highly recommended
This stuff is crazy good at sealing up your vehicle. I sanded the rust hit it with a converter and then sprayed this on. No rust has come back and I live in the rust belt.

Good stuff
Bought this because it gets great reviews...and I give it a great review as well. Everything rusts in New England, unless it’s slathered in the rich smooth glorious goodness of high quality cosmoline. Works real nice on basically anything that rusts. My personal favorite is for vehicle undercoating.

THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT TO PROTECT YOUR METALS
I used this to protect some cast iron items I put in storage. It dries just as it is claimed, even in cold temps. I checked the pieces recently and there was no rust. Very pleased with this product.

Stop rust in its tracks!
I bought a cheap Jeep for $50.00. Overall, the body looked to be "rust free", but crawling underneath it, I found out the floor pans on the driver's side are rusted really bad. I went to remove the battery from battery tray, and the whole battery AND tray came out along with the bolts holding the tray in - revealing a huge hole where the battery tray once sat. I formed and welded in a patch to cover up the hole, sprayed it generously with Rust-O-Leum Black rust protection paint. Then, I opened up the garage doors and sprayed on Cosmoline's RP-342 Rust Prevention coating - both inside the engine bay area where the tray will sit, and on the underside inside the fender well area. The RP-342 comes out of the can as a heavy, thick, spray-able wax-like consistency. The garage doors definitely need to be open, and wear a cartridge-style chemical spray mask. The fumes are not to be taken lightly. It will take 24 hours to fully cure. Once dry, the surface should last a long time. The underside of the front fender well will be covered by a inner splash shield to aid in protecting the rusted area. The texture of the spray is like a heavy syrup with an amber color. When sprayed over the color matte Black, it's hardly noticeable. I bought 3 cans because I have to replace the driver's side floor pans front & rear, and I will using this from front to back to stop the rust from further spreading. I live in a salt state in the winter, and I want the underside to be well protected from salt damage. This is the stuff you use to stop rust in its tracks!

Very pleased with this product
Very pleased with this product. It is a little thinner than I thought it would be, but I think that actually works out in my favor. I will continue to use this product for many years to come. I used this product as road salt protection for our two vehicles. It is very easy to use and apply. Thanks for a great product!

Undercoated a Landcruiser
I just got done using this as an undercoat on my '13 Toyota Landcruiser. It went on great and sticks well, it will only drip when you really saturate an area. I pressure washed first and started spraying this stuff on. 3 can barely coated everything and I followed up with fluid film on the insides of every frame rail and door. If I had another can of cosmolone I'd have used it. If you're going to do a full size SUV I'd order four cans. If your going to go nuts on a full size pickup with an 8' bed order six cans. This stuff is still in my hair after a hot shower so I think it will keep my truck rust free (it's a Texas truck I shipped up to Illinois) for the foreseeable future. I plan on spraying my snowblower and anything else that's going to need protection.
