Incredible, Unprecedented Support for a Fantastic Sound Machine
I bought my Sound+Sleep SE a bit over five years ago and it's worked great that entire time. However just recently it has developed a glitch where after playing for several hours it'll suddenly emit a fast stuttering noise and then power off. I contacted the company's support department and they immediately responded (within seconds) and their belief is that the memory card has gone bad and they are sending me a replacement memory card first class free of charge. I'm totally blown away by this level of support, especially as the product is no longer under warranty. I wish all businesses operated at such a level. Now as to the machine itself, I love it, which is why I've used it every night for over five years. My favorite settings is the "Meadow" setting with both "Selection" lights lit. I do hit the Display button to turn off all the lights though before I go to bed. But I just love the crickets in that particular setting.

Sweat dreams!
Ok so I live in a condo and my next door neighbor (in the next building!) blasts her TV day and night. (Who the heck watches TV at 4 AM??) It's not just the noise, but the bass/vibration that's been keeping me awake. It's been a real struggle and I wasn't sure what to do. Sleep with earplugs? Yuk, and how would I hear my alarm? Add soundproofing? Costly and not attractive. I figured I'd give a sound machine a shot and I am thrilled that I did. There are obviously a zillion to choose from. Not knowing the type of sound that would work for me, I decided to go with one that offers a wide variety. To say that this machine offers a lot of sounds is like calling the Pacific Ocean a little pond. It's bonkers. There must be over 50 to chose from, and this is not a bad thing. I listened to them all and chose the one that suits me best (the simplest "Ocean" setting FY). It sounds, pardon the pun, dreamy. Perfectly soothing and it seems to be an excellent solution. I slept last night like a baby.At first glance, the controls do look a bit complex, but they are actually quite easy to use. Overall it's an attractive device and looks great in my room. I am extremely pleased. The speaker sounds excellent.A couple of minor issues. No big deal but worth knowing.• Being able to turn off the display light is a great feature. However, every time one changes a setting (say- to a different sound or volume in the middle of the night), the light goes back on.• The control knobs feel a little flimsy. I'm not sure if they are built for durability.Overall I am thrilled with this purchase and would definitely recommend it. It is literally just what I needed.

I love this thing!
I love this thing! It has a nice selection of natural and artificial sounds ranging from brown, pink, and white noise to rainfall and ocean wave sounds. The ocean sounds just like the beach in Ocean City, Maryland, where we vacationed in the 1950s and ‘60s. It used to put me to sleep back then, and it is doing the same for me now! I keep the device on the end table next to my bed. I can change the settings very easily from there, and it doesn’t have to be loud at all.

System Failure
I purchased this sound machine about a month ago, and within two weeks the sound machine would just shut off after 15 minutes of operation. It was dead. It would not turn back on.I called the manufacturer, and they were very nice and replaced the unit within 1 week. I also received a return label to send the original unit. I received the new, and worked well....... for about a week. This time the shut down of the unit was different. The unit would shut down after 15 minutes, but I was able to reset the unit by unplugging the power source. This did not solve the main issue though of the constant shut down.I though the issue may have been the voltage fluctuation at the receptacle. The readout on my UPS battery backup showed a power fluctuation between 118 to 121 volts. So in order to correct this, I purchased an electronic voltage regulator to automatically adjust and maintain the voltage at 120 volts. After setting up this new auto voltage regulator, I pugged the sound machine into the auto voltage regulator, and after 15 minutes, the unit still would shut down.I then assumed that the line voltage signal was "Dirty", with noise. So I purchase a electronic line conditioner for a high fi system to clean the line signal. After installing the auto voltage regulator and the line conditioner filter in series, the sound machine still shuts down after 15 minutes.I suspect that there must be a manufacturers defect in the circuitry, since I experienced the same issues with the two units, with a clean and constant 120 volt power supply.I've given up on exchanging the sound machine with another replacement and have decided to take the loss, and just purchase a different manufacturer. This was a costly lesson. I do not recommend the purchase of this sound machine.

Winner for HD Sounds and Ambient Variety
I purchased this item after comparing it with the LectroFan Evo and the Yogasleep Dohm, and ultimately settled on the Sound+Sleep SE. All of them are good, but this one is the most complete, especially if you appreciate rain and nature sounds. It gets quite loud, and the sound quality is what I would describe as HD compared to the others. The LectroFan Evo is more specialized in white noise and fan sounds. Its sound isn't as 'HD' but has a slightly warmer tone. The Yogasleep Dohm is for those who like simplicity and the convenience of pressing a single button. Its sound is relaxing, although it bothered me that I could hear a strange, high-pitched sound coming from somewhere mechanical, not the fan itself. This was definitely the winner for me due to its HD sounds, good aesthetics, no noticeable looping, and versatility of ambient sounds, plus white, brown, and pink noise, and fan sounds. The only downsides are the price and limited portability.
