Winner
The Winco Stainless Steel Skimmer is a solid, no-nonsense tool that’s become a staple in my kitchen. It’s sturdy and well-balanced, with a wide mesh that makes it perfect for lifting dumplings, fried foods, or veggies out of hot oil or boiling water. The stainless steel construction feels durable and easy to clean—no rusting or bending, even with frequent use. I love how the long handle keeps my hands safely away from the heat, and the skimmer’s design allows liquids and oils to drain quickly and efficiently. It’s lightweight but tough, and it handles both delicate and heavy foods with ease. If you’re looking for a reliable skimmer that gets the job done right, this one’s a winner.

Great for anything you can think of when cooking stir fries.
Highly recommend for anyone stir frying rice dishes. I use it after a lot when frying velveted chicken and emptying the chicken on this strainer while it sits on a metal pot to collect the oil. Add my other ingredients, fry for a bit and add my chicken back into it to finish the dish.

Great tool
This strainer does exactly what I want it to do. It can easily scoop out all items from a wok full of hot oil, and the short handle is easy to use and manipulate. It's also very handy for setting over a wok and pouring another wok or pot full of oil and ingredients over it to strain out the oil. Many restaurants use this technique to quickly fry items then toss them back into the wok to finish the dish. This is very sturdy and well made, should last me for years and years.

Ginormous size
Havent used it yet… it’s freakin’ huge and seems pretty heavy duty. 🤣 Bought it bc I watched some youtuber showing how to season a carbon steel wok and he was using something like it so I wanted one too bc of the size! Probably would only take one time to scoop anything out if using it to deep fry bc of it’s size.

What's not to like?
This is a very basic utensil. It is big and heavy duty and as long as it is used for its intended purpose and cared for should last a lifetime.

Could be lighter
Build quality is good. However, for a strainer at this size, weight really matters. It could be made lighter to be honest. Not keeping this.

This is a serious heavy duty item. Really hard to find well made items today. Professional Restaurant item. Very impressed

I didn't realize how much I was going to like this thing
It's pretty large and scoops out the contents of my 14 inch wok, in one motion. Used in combination with a cast iron wok, you get back the ability to toss food during cooking, if you're so inclined. Also handy for draining fried foods, beans after soaking, cooked pasta, etc. Steel is tough and springy, so it should last several lifetimes.

This is the strainer you can see being used in Asian restaurant kitchens on YouTube. They usually set them on top of a 10 to 12 inch empty pot. There is absolutely no food in your kitchen that will be too heavy for this bad boy. The strainer portion will not flex unexpectedly nor will the short handle bend. Please be aware that it’s about 12 inches in width so you’re not generally using it as a scoop to remove food from your cooking pot or pan. I use it for all stages of cooking from washing and holding cut vegetables to drip dry,to holding blanched vegetables prior to stir frying. I bought 2 to get free shipping and I think it’s a good deal that way. 12 inch diameter is not too wide. Food strains or drains more efficiently when it can spread out rather than being piled up vertically in a colander. Hope this helps you decide. Cheers
