This is a great value for the price. Chess pieces feel good as far as weight an size. The board is is not perfect but for the price it is an awesome set. The checkers are great for the kids so this makes a nice family game set that stores easily. Is this a professional set? No, but size and feel is close and great bang for the buck. I have no regrets with this purchase and have had compliments from friends regarding the quality, fit and finish. The magnetic bases are covered in felt giving weight to the bottom of the wood chess pieces (nice). The felt helps protect the boards beautiful wood finish, (very nice). The quality of the set and rich looks give it a "looks like it cost more than it does" attitude. Shipping time was quick and the package arrived without damage. Great shopping experience, thank you.

Before opening and using the product, the packing was fabulous all on its own. I bought this as a birthday gift and was very impressed with the appearance. You receive game instructions for chess and checkers, a postcard, and warranty card. As you can see from the photos, all pieces for both games were in and accounted for. When setting up a game for chess, there were two extra queen pieces. The magnets worked perfectly for the game- as you can see, you can tilt to board and the pieces don’t fall off but may slide a little. This makes it good for traveling and getting bumped a little without all the pieces falling and ruining the game. The top of the board does easily get scratched up on surfaces though so be careful and handle with some care. I got sold on this board because of the price range (such a good deal being that cheap with all the stuff you get), good for all ages, small and compacted, sturdy, and very detailed with design! For the price I would recommend purchasing for you or as a gift!

My eight year old grandson is learning how to play chess, and really enjoys it. This AMEROUS Magnetic Wooden Chess and Checkers Game Set is a Christmas present from us, gpa and gma, and he will be thrilled receiving this.The wood box is very sturdy and classy looking, and he can carry it around easily. Each piece is artisan crafted, and are magnetic. No more lost pieces. It is also a checkers board, but he has not learned that yet.I can’t wait to see his smile when he realizes what this is on Christmas Day. His mom said he really wants a set.I will take pictures after he opens his present and add them to this review.Highly recommend.

I just wish it was a tiny bit thicker so the chess pieces didn't have to come out even if you were only playing checkers. If you leave the chess pieces in their storage, and flip the board over to play checkers, the board does not sit flat on the table, because the chess pieces protrude from the bottom when opened.The build quality is nice, and feel like solid play pieces. The magnetic feature is nice, its strong enough to hold the pieces, but not too strong to make it annoying to move them along the board. For 30 dollars, I would recommend this.

I bought this chess set for my boys to practice chess. I searched and really liked the magnetic option. The chess set also comes with checkers. The set itself is well made and each piece is beautifully carved from wood. We have taken it on trips and the boys love playing where ever we go. The price was competitive but the main reason I am writing this post is that they dropped a chess piece and our dog decided to use it as a chew toy. I was bummed that we were missing a piece when I realized there was a lifetime warranty. I messaged asking for a replacement piece and within a week they sent me an entire new set of chess pieces. I have never had this type of amazing costumer service. So if you are looking for a beautiful chess set do yourself a favor and buy this one. You will not be disappointed!

I rarely write reviews, but this chess set deserves credit. For the money ($32) it is fantastic. The wood grain is gorgeous, the craftsmanship is perfect (seriously - not a single flaw or chip or scratch), the clasps fit perfectly, the magnestism in the pieces is perfect (not too strong, but also you can turn the board completely upside down and the pieces hold), and the storage fittings are perfectly shaped (and made of a spongey rubbery dense-foam that grips them really snugly...you can push in each piece and then hold the case upside down, and they won't fall out). All of the pieces have good un-flawed shapes...no deformities in any piece. They must mass-produce the heck out of these because otherwise I can't understand how a product this nice can only be $32 (and shipped free!)... If I had to make any complaint, it'd be very minor: the eyes on the horses/knights are a bit shallow, and it'd be nice if they stood out a little more...but who cares...they don't even need eyes at all. (I may take a fine-tipped marker to darken them a bit.) Anyway, I'm happy to sing the praises of this product. It's cool to get something awesome, for cheap, once in a while.
