Madden NFL 15 - PlayStation 4

This is the best Madden I can remember in a long time.The revamped defense has lived up to expectation. BE WARNED: It takes time to get used to, as evidenced by my first game. On Madden 25, I had consistently played on All-Madden and it was definitely the right level for me. On my first game on Madden 15, I lost 38-3. Oh, well. I highly suggest using the skills trainer more than you think you need to.The presentation is a lot better. No longer do we have to watch the same players drinking water during every time out. It's great that they were super thirsty, but who really cared? It feels much more like a TV presentation.The graphics and gameplay are notably better. Gameplay is smooth (no more 50-foot jumping linebackers!) and the physics feel authentic; players no longer fly five yards backward on a conservative tackle.My main complaint is that the CPU defense might be a tad too good. There are probably sliders to adjust this, but the default is a little absurd. Many of the passes that could be completed in the past are now swatted away by defenders. I'm not saying this should never happen, but it feels like every time you try to fit the ball into a tight window, it's incomplete. For God's sake, Peyton should be able to complete a few tough passes!I highly recommend this game. The main knock on Madden is that it is just a roster update year-to-year, but this is NOT one of those years! The team clearly put effort and thought into this game. I can't wait to play it some more.

This is easily the most realistic playing Madden ever. EA finally got it right on nearly every account. The only exception would be a slightly clunky, laggy menu system, but one gets used to and it is easily worth putting up with because they gameplay is so fantastic. I think many published reviewed have not played the game long enough to appreciate just how good the quality of the gameplay happens to be. And it should be mentioned the game is FAIR - no AI cheating, etc. There will be blowouts either way and close games as well. There is some momentum related to how your team and season is going and how your QB is playing, but it is subtle and appropriate. It never, ever feels like AI cheating. And it is not, because football has elements of momentum. Cheating is always in the CPU's favor. Momentum is not, that can cut either way. Overall, I think this Madden should have received much higher reviews and I have played all of them a lot.

The next-gen graphics are gorgeous, and many to the upgrades to the gameplay were greatly needed, but there are still a number of things that leave me feeling underwhelmed with this edition of Madden. I could nitpick and talk about how trades remain very difficult to make in franchise mode, or the untimely in game announcing (I'm winning 48-7 in the 4th quarter and they're telling me that both teams have fought hard in this tightly contested match...), but here's the biggest thing that's been bugging me about the gameplay. Defensive play got a massive overhaul, and that also includes when you're on offense. So, DBs now are able to step in front of routes to make interceptions, which is something that was desperately needed to make this a more realistic game experience. However, some of these interceptions completely defy the laws of physics. I've had DBs literally cut through my wide receivers to make interceptions, somehow not making any contact with them (even though they essentially went through them) and not commit a penalty.All in all, this is a good edition of Madden, and I look forward to seeing where they go from here with the franchise.

This is the best Madden in years. The game is improved in a lot of ways and is fun to play, but there are a few annoying problems that some others have mentioned. Computer QB accuracy is way out of whack. When you play the computer, the opposing QB (no matter who he is) will always throw for a very high percentage. I'm talking Geno Smith and Mark Tannehill throwing at 80%+ accuracy. The new defensive line rush abilities are nice, but they also need some adjustments. I created a LE and ended up shattering the NFL season sack record in my rookie year - I had 63 sacks in 16 games and also broke the single game sack record with 11. The commentary is still bad and is often totally inaccurate but I've come to ignore it for the most part - it's probably the one thing I wish Madden would focus on for next year's version of the game.One other odd part of the game is the penalties. There were a number of offsides and facemask penalties, but I never saw a single holding or pass-interference penalty (defensive or offensive) the entire season.
