Fasting is the fix for diabetes and obesity
I teach dieting and use Michael Mosley YouTube BBC documentary Eat, "fast and live longer" as an introduction as to why one should fast. Most of the class of seniors are at a 6th grade comprehension level, and they like his documentary. I then recommend this book for those who have significant weight problem or type 2 diabetes. It is a very good simple start for the simple minded. The women in the class like the recipes. My wife even has read the book, which surprised me. This book answers what to do and why in a simple way. I have for the last 5 years studied full time why we are insulin resistant and how to reverse it and undo the down stream damage (see healthfully.org/rh); thus I know he got the science 90% right--few have. I highly recommend this book and his documentary. If you want more science there are two excellent sources on YouTube, Dr. Jason Fung. He has 2 excellent books published in 2016, Dr. Robert Lustig is first rate--better since he now recognizes the cholesterol (lipid) myth. His YouTube lectures are very good. Excellent are the series of 15 minute shorts using the nom de plum "What I Have Learned", My website has a video page with links and description. As Dr. Fung wrote, "Not eating is more important that what you eat. Michael Mosley affirms that conclusion.l .

Great Read & Precise
I like the science presented by Dr. Mosley. It is clear and an easy read. I am a fan or Dr. Mosley's PBS documentaries. It sounds challenging but worth it. I am staring today and will provide an update in 2 weeks. I wish he had a table summary for a quick reference.

Good Read But Abstinence is Easier Than Calorie Restriction, For Me
I love Michael Mosley and I have watched many of his U-Tube videos! All of his stuff is informative and inspiring!I'm very grateful for his research and passion for optimal health. He provides eye opening information and has motivated me to striving for better health.I am a very obese, 54 year old American woman who has had diabetes for 15 years. For me it has been easier to do several 24 hr. Fasts rather than doing 500 calorie days like this book suggests. I tried and failed. I'm only giving it 3 stars because for me, it didn't work. I have also done two, 48 hr. Fasts which I found easier than the 500 calories as well.A big personal tip on fasting, I can only do a fast if I start with a low carb diet at least one day before. I could never have fasted for even 24 hrs. had I not cut the carbs ahead of time.I think it kind of goes back to abstinence is easier than calorie restriction. The fasting I have been doing has been lowering my blood sugar levels, increasing my insulin sensitivity and hopefully burning sugar from my body and liver like Dr. Jason Fung's books advise.I will buy Dr. Mosley's other book, The Fast Diet and probably the exercise one. I have just started doing H.I I.T and will continue to watch his videos! Always inspiring!Good luck to all! THANK YOU DR. MOSLEY!!

35# lost in 8 weeks!
Clear, precise directions to maintaining a great blood sugar and to losing weight. In eight weeks, I've lost 35# and 6 inches off my waist, and I didn't even stick to it on a few days. The key is consistency. I just finished eight weeks and I went from 279 to 244; I could barely walk to the car from my home without pain in my knees. Now I go up to 2.25 miles on the treadmill at 4 MPH. My life is forever changed because I know I can do it now on my own. I was told the only way to lose weight and lower my Blood Sugar was to have bariatric surgery. I call this my No-surgery bariactric diet.

This diet set me right!
If you are struggling with hyperglycemia, this diet will help. It's based on solid science, and Dr. Mosely is an expert. I highly recommend watching his BBC documentary entitled Eat, Fast & Live Longer. If you want to take charge of your health, these resources can help! Good luck to anyone dealing with blood sugar issues. There are some sound solutions that do not come in the form of a pill! My blood sugar levels are now within normal range--even first thing in the morning. I also lost weight following this diet. To maintain after the 8 weeks, I've kept to low carb/high fat and practice intermittent fasting to keep my weight steady. I went from overweight to normal weight in a very short time frame, and my sugars instantly improved when I began this blood sugar diet.

Off medication after so many years of fighting with diabetes
I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2007, but most likely, I had it for another 2 years or so prior to that. I started with Metformin and later switched to Janumet, but my glucose readings were out of control. I tried different diets in the past, but could not stop taking medications, and my hopes for finding a real solution were slim. After I found this book on Amazon, and read reviews, I decided to try that as well. I started 800-calorie diet on March 1st. In about 10 days, I switched from Janumet to Metformin, and last time I took Metformin was March 23rd. My morning blood sugar was around 100 in the morning (some days under 100, some days above 100), by that time, and my A1C on May 19th was 5.9 down from 7.7 before the diet. At this moment, my morning blood sugar is under 100 most days, and I based on my 90-day average of the glucometer readings, my A1C should be 5.5 in about 2 weeks.I am truly grateful to Dr. Mosley for this great advice that will help thousands of people change their lives back to normal!

Very Helpful
I have recently been told I'm pre diabetic so a lifestyle change is in order.I checked around, found this book and I have to say it's very helpful. Plenty of information about diabetes and what a healthy diet and some exercise can do to change things. The recipes seem simple enough and for the most part have ingredients I can get here year-round... and that's not always easy being from Canada. For what it's worth I feel this is a good book with a lot of helpful information.

love Micheal Mosley
I am not a diabetic or even pre diabetic and I don’t want to be either. I have read all Micheals books and find him factual, motivating and entertaining. As you get older it pays to be on top of your health, otherwise you might not have the best life you could have had. Recommend all his books and TV documentaries. Take it all in, the rest is up to you!
