An easy to use drawing book for 5 and up.
I've liked and used Ed Emberley drawing books to help me learn to draw and to help my students when I taught. Good shape recognition, space awareness skillsa direction following and everyone's finished product looked like the object we were drawing.

More advanced Emberly
Great book - my 10yo daughter has taken to Ed Emberly just like I did when I was her age. I only wish it came in a hardcover, as I feel like these paperbacks are a little flimsy and don't stay open the way my old copies did.The purple book features a lot of things like you see on the cover - the giant pirate ship is a real lesson in how to build a big drawing out of little drawings and will make anyone a more capable artist. A great addition to your collection.

You can do it, not just for kids Too!
This series of books from Emberly are the easiest books on drawing there are, period. Anyone young or old can learn to draw some great critters and vehicles from these books. All of his Big Color books are great, as is his "Make A World" book. This one is famous for the easy way it shows you how to draw step by step, what appears to be a complex pirate ship. He even shows you how to make yours unique rather than a copy of his drawings. You can be the doodle hero of your class or office after using this book. He does it simply using very simple steps, lines, and basic shapes to start you off. If you want to learn the terminology of what you are doing, and really become an accomplished artist, the next step after these are the terrific Jack Hamm books. If you just want to have some fun, get this book!

Great gift for a creative kid.
I gifted a set of these Ed Emberley drawing guides to my 5 year old cousin (along with a sketchbook and some drawing utensils). He is very fascinated with art and loves the drawing books -- now he wants them all!I no longer have to scramble to think of what to gift him on holidays, the answer is always another Emberley. At least until I run out of the series or he inevitably grows out of coloring.I learned to draw all kinds of things when I checked these books out of the library as a kid; so they hold nostalgic value to me. I was very happy to pass it on to my young cousin.

Become an Artist!
I bought this for my 7-year-old and I was asking if she wanted me to draw anything. She listed a few things that I happily drew. And then she asked me to draw the pirate ship. Drawing or any kind of art is not my forte, and it looked complicated, so I didn't really want to, but said yes. It took me an hour, but by the end, my two little girls were showering me with praises for the best pirate ship they have ever seen. They love the basic step-by-step instructions to draw simple animals. We usually do a lot of free drawing or painting, but they are learning a lot from this book and the other Ed Emberley book we bought.

Great for aspiring artists
I had this book as a child, and it helped me developed my interest in art. Over time, I became a VERY accomplished artist, and this book played a major role in it. Breaking down complex drawings into simple steps is a wonderful exercise. The best part is that the steps are SO simple, that you really feel like you accomplished something when the drawing is finished. PERFECT for a novice. My children LOVE this book. My fridge door is completely covered with drawings now. I hope they continue their interest. This book has us all drawing together. Its something you can't put a price tag on.

Helping children achieve success,
I discovered this great author way back when I was teaching Art at the Junior High Level. I had a few special classes full of kids with learning disabilities and a few social disorders as well. This gave them some form of success from the finger print book, funny faces, cars - trucks - and other vehicles. Great for them to see the association between shapes and how to build with them.

Originale e utile
