Great Product...Keeps Your E61 Group Head Clean!
I have enjoyed making espresso at home for years with significant investment in ECM, Profitec, Ceado, etc. The fun part for me is there are always products being introduced that take things to the next level. My 1st experience with a 58.5mm puck screen was with another brand sold through a well known NY retailer of everything coffee. I purchased most of my equipment through them over the years, but buy lots of accessories on Amazon. I was so pleased with the result that I bought three more Normcore screens with two of their round silicone base storage racks through Amazon. All are great quality and function perfectly. Why do you need these screens? In my opinion, the little extra time needed to add the puck screen after the tamp and cleaning the screen is absolutely worth it. Most importantly, you will be shocked how clean your E61 Group Head, shower screen, and portafilter end up after a pull. I could not believe it! Candidly, I do not notice better tasting coffee, reduced channeling, etc., but everything stays clean, clean, clean! Additionally, a Nanotec Precision Shower Screen and 8.5mm Blue Silicone E61 Group Head Gasket (both purchased on Amazon) were very low cost, high benefit part replacements on my ECM. Note: One of my new screens ended up being the wrong size (53.3mm) even though I ordered a 58.5mm screen. The sleeve containing the screen was marked wrong and Amazon immediately exchanged it for the correct size. Summary: Highly recommended...a no brainer.

Helps with channeling and cleanup
The Normcore 53.3mm Puck Screen is a simple, cost-effective upgrade that’s been well worth adding to my espresso routine. It fits perfectly in both of my 54mm portafilters — the stock Breville portafilter and my LILQ bottomless portafilter — with no fuss. In use, I do think it helps reduce channeling a bit, but the biggest benefit by far is keeping the shower screen clean. Cleanup is easier, and maintenance feels more controlled overall. Build quality is solid, and it sits flat on the puck without shifting. One thing to note is that it doesn’t work with a magnet, which isn’t a dealbreaker but worth knowing if you’re used to using a magnet to remove your screen. Overall, this is an easy recommendation if you want a small, inexpensive improvement that helps protect your machine and tidy up your workflow.

Improved Extraction with Minor Stand Quirks
I picked up this Normcore 2-Pack Puck Screen Set specifically to see if it would help with water distribution and keep coffee grounds out of the group head. The Good: • Solid Build Quality: The Stainless Steel mesh is robust and feels like it will last a long time without warping. • Clean Group Head: Significantly limits the amount of coffee grounds that get sucked back into the machine, making daily cleanup faster. • Reduced Channeling: More even extractions and more compact, easy-to-eject pucks. • Thickness Options: Having both 1.0mm and 1.7mm options is great for experimenting depending on your dose and roast level (use the thicker screen for darker roasts & finer grinds The Not-So-Good: • Difficult to Deep Clean: While a quick rinse works for daily use, coffee oils can build up inside the fine mesh over time. It requires more than just water to get them back to "like new" condition. • Stand Fitment Issues: The silicone stand isn't a perfect design. The grooves are too wide for the thinner 1.0mm screen, making it feel unstable and less premium than the screens themselves. • Value: It’s a solid product, but at this price point, you expect the accessories (like the stand) to be perfectly tuned. It feels a bit expensive for what you get in the box. Pro Tips: Pay attention to your headspace. Adding a 1.7mm screen might require you to lower your coffee dose by 1–2 grams to prevent the screen from pressing too hard against the group head screw. For maintenance, don't just rely on rinsing; a regular soak in espresso cleaner is necessary to keep those fine mesh holes clear of oils.

Sleek and Quality Design, Enhanced Brewing and Clean -Up!
Just received the Normcore 58.5mm Puck Screen, and it's a beauty. Crafted from 316 stainless steel with a titanium PVD coating, its arrival in professional, no-fuss packaging impressed us from the start. The packaging itself is minimalistic and quality in its presentation alone. Unwrapping revealed the puck screen's sleek design, featuring a subtle Normcore label that's both stylish and understated. It fits our portafilter like a glove, adding not just to the aesthetics but significantly improving our coffee brewing process. It's been instrumental in reducing channeling and keeping things clean, making every brew smoother and more consistent. After a few uses, we're thrilled with its performance. It's not just a tool; it's an upgrade to our coffee setup, making each cup that much better and easier clean up as well. This puck screen is definitely a standout addition to our coffee-making process! Thank You!

Normcore 58.5mm Puck Screen - nice, but....!
Normcore 58.5mm Puck Screen : Yes, this puck screen works as intended. However....the devil is in the details. The screen itself is very well made, so the product is great. However, using it in a workflow is another matter. 1) IMHO...you need a stack of these if you are making multiple beverages in a row, as you need to thoroughly clean it after every use, which totally interrupts the workflow. 2) Picking it out of your messy knock box is not fun. It's very hot,( like finger burning hot), and messy, again interrupting workflow. 3) You need to clean it with HOT water so that it doesn't chill down the extraction when placed in the portafilter...just another step to do. I rest mine on the warming tray of my espresso machine so that it is hot and ready to go for the first cup. After that..ummm...it's a nuisance. Does it improve the taste? Honestly, I can't tell that it does. Does it help prevent channeling? Yes, probably. Does it keep the shower screen cleaner? Yes it does. Final thoughts: if you're doing one extraction, it's probably a fine addition to your process. (I grind, use the WDT tool, leveler tool, then tamp). For back to back cups, unless you want to stop and burn your fingers and then clean it between cups, it's probably not worth the hassle. You definitely would need a stack of them and then do clean up when you are done.

No more soupy pucks
Picked up the Normcore puck screen on sale, and it’s been a great addition to my espresso setup. The build feels solid, and it helps keep my group head clean after every shot. My pulls are more consistent, and it also helps avoid soupy pucks. Definitely worth it—especially if you can grab it on sale.
