I purchased this Water test set to help me with hydroponics that I’m starting to dabble in. The main purpose is to test PH and PPM/EC so that I am keeping the nutrient content at the appropriate level so the plants would be able to grow at their maximum potential. Upon unboxing I was surprised that the vendor included a spare set of button batteries (a set was installed and an extra set was in the packaging). My 1st impression is that they are very simple design and should be easy to use. Im not looking for tons of features. I just need accurate and repeatable measurements with that are easy to attain. This kit consists of 2 meters. A Yellow meter that measures Temperature and EC / PPM. The 2nd Meter only measures PH. 1st meter (Yellow): this meter can cycle between measuring Liquid Temp and TDS (Total Dissolved Solids). The TDS measurement can be displayed in either PPM (parts per million) or EC (Electrical Conductivity). This one seems to be fairly accurate. I tested it in Reverse Osmosis Filtered water and got a reading of 5ppm, which is pretty good. The Temperature measurement was a bit too far off for my taste. I had placed it in a glass of ice w/ a tiny bit of water in in (the water temp should read very close to 32 degrees however it was showing around 40. The down fall w/ this meter is that you can not re-calibrate it. The other Con that I have for this is that you to keep pressing the “clear” button to get it to update the temperature. 2nd Meter (white): this meter measures the PH of a liquid. Right out of the box it seemed to be fairly accurate. This one has the ability to be recalibrated so that it is more accurate. Be sure to take your time when recalibrating. Use the exact volume of liquid with the calibration powder. The readings that I got were consistent when I measured the same liquid over a period of time. Overall im satisfied w/ this meter. Final Thoughts: I think that these meters are a fairly accurate set. The PH meter has the ability to be calibrated and is very consistent. The TDS/Temp Meter seems a little inaccurate and it does NOT have the ability to be re-calibrated. You cant really compare this w/ a professional test set (professional sets cost WAY more). For everyday use that gets you close enough, I would say that this is a pretty good set.

Could not successfully calibrate- always flashes about ten times then displays “-err” when calibrating to 6.68

It works as promised but make sure you have batteries. Description says it will come with batteries…it does not. Pretty annoyed about that.

I tested it with test straps and it didn't seem to match and ppm seemed off.
