Large Bowl, Smokes Well But Don't Overfill, Pretty Decent Pipe
Pretty good value for money - I use it for tobacco. I also smoke pot, and this pipe would not be my first choice for that because it just gets too hot - plus, the bowl is darned big making it a pricey, wasteful fill. Because of Covid, I bought a variety of pipes recently so that friends have assigned pipes here that they must leave at my home each in its own freezer baggie. So while some may think a large-bowl pipe best for groups, I disagree. My friends were amazed when I issued them pipes - and were also very much pleased with my solution to an awkward social situation a couple weeks ago. So I bought this pipe strictly for tobacco. It smokes very well, but this is one very deep bowl - I find it difficult to smoke the last 1/4-to-3/8" of tobacco if I fill it too much. Other than that caveat, it's a pretty decent pipe - we'll see how it holds up. "Pretty decent pipe" may sound like I mean you could do a lot better, but for the money "pretty decent pipe" means it's well worth consideration - you won't do a lot better. Smokes about like a Grabow briar. It's also a pretty nice -looking pipe for the money, and fits the hand and teeth well. Now I'm going outside to smoke some nice, mild burley. Of course, briar pipes are more durable and heat resistant than their wood counterparts, but rare at $20 - if it's a gift, it's worth stepping up to a briar (which begin at about double that) unless you know the recipient likes wood pipes. The pipe smokes well, but an inexperienced pipe smoker is apt to burn one out. Ironically, perhaps, the pipe will serve an experienced smoker well. Matter of technique, which has a learning curve an experienced smoker has already picked up, but most such smokers use briar. Sometimes cob or clay - wood fans are rarer. Mine had a little bubbling - very little - near the forward base of the bowl. That said, I don't expect perfection at this price. It looks good, feels good in hand and teeth, and smokes well. For someone new to pipes, a very inexpensive cob (Missouri Meerschaum, among others) would be cheaper to destroy while working on smoking technique. Thus, for a newbie, I'd choose either to spend less and learn with a cob, or spend more and get a briar. And all that said: As an experienced pipe smoker with a few briars, three cobs and this pear-wood, I will admit that I like it better than a cob and it is inexpensive enough that I use it as a beater pipe when I'm going somewhere it could be damaged or stolen. It gets into the rotation then, and that makes it very good value. Also, it is possible that some who report bubbling in finish may have caused it themselves by not using a long, cool smoke, but huffing continuously. Note the word possible. I don't know how they can make it and price it this affordably, but they do a nice job for two sawbucks. Recommended with caveats, as noted above.

High quality and works
I've been looking for a nice tobacco pipe, but I keep seeing reviews of the pipe cracking which has been throwing me off. Glad I didn't listen to those reviews. It makes me think some people are not using the pipe the correct way or using it for other things than tobacco. I put my filter in there which is very easy. Top part can be taken off and put back on very easy and snug. Throw some pipe tobacco in there, and do a quick light with my torch lighter that takes like 1 second, and then smoke. Very easy, and the pipe is never hot on the outside no matter if I pack it all the way and burn the whole top of it with my torch lighter. Makes me think people could be using a regular lighter and destroying it by keeping it on there for too long to try and light it. Make your life easier and get the correct lighter and enjoy your pipe. I don't see how it can crack as it never even heats up that hot to permeate the wooden pipe. It's made of durable wood, I think it said pear wood, correct me if I am wrong, but that is one of the best woods you can get for a wooden pipe when it comes to durability. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Neat little wooden stand does its job and carrying case, have yet to use it, but it feels nice and would use it if I were to transport it. Thanks for the great product.

Do not hesitate to purchase.
My local tobacco shop had a whole spread of nice looking pipes on the table. I picked up a few and I’m sure they were nice. But I could not find one for under $125. I was skeptical of what a $17 pipe might provide. But honestly I don’t see the difference between what I’m holding now and what I saw on the table. I’ve smoked it perhaps 10 times and so far no issues. This is my first pipe so perhaps I’m missing something but I won’t hesitate to endorse what seems like an incredible bargain and a pretty nice pipe. Perhaps if I spent over $100 I would complain that the grain on mine is not quite as spectacular oas pictured. But it is still a real wood pipe and not at all plastic in appearance.

This pipe is definitely made from quality materials. From a distance it has a solid darkened brown (almost black) wooden look, but in close inspection and proper lighting, you'll being to notice the brown colour become more dominant. It's very easy to pull from the mouth piece as airflow is very smooth, and the bowl itself goes deep, allowing the ability to place a filter at the bottom and pack more tobacco. Cleaning the pipe is very easy as it constructed with two parts: the pear wood bowl and the acrylic mouth piece. The two are detachable, making the process a lot more easier. Finally, the package also comes with a detailed list of instructions on how to use and clean the pipe, as well as a small display stand. The stand is very portable and it allows you to mount the pipe on it if you wish to free your hands. The stand itself is lined with a felt material on the inside so it doesn't scratch the pipe, and the mouth piece rest is concave so it doesn't slip around. In essence, I'm very happy about this purchase as this is a great wooden pipe that I would highly recommend for someone that wants both the aesthetic and portability!

I have smoked a Pipe for over 30 year's & own over 100 of all types, shape's, & manufacturers (some sadly no longer available) but these are in my opinion excellent everyday smokers. I currently own 7 of the Maigret Type & they have performed superbly smoking a wide variety of Pipe Tobaccos , whilst I would admit this may be my own personal experience I would recommend these to any Pipe smoker whatever their level of experience. The Pipes are made (as stated) of Pear Wood & so are devoid of the filler so commonly used in Briar & arrive well presented in a sturdy gift box in their own protective cloth bag, the wooden stand is both useful & well made & a nice additional touch. Truth is you would pay 4 time's the very reasonable price of £20 for a Pipe of similar quality (PLEASE DON'T INCREASE THE PRICE!) & so all in all I would recommend this product thoroughly.
