Arko Shaving Cream Soap Stick (6 Pieces) by EVYAP

Seriously... why would you use anything else? Genuine question. Provides an incredibly rich lather that lasts and does an outstanding job of promoting a comfortable and effective baseline for a BBS shave. Others have complained about the scent... it is lemony... get over it. I have been wet shaving for almost 50 years... all but two with a DE safety razor (the two, I stupidly experimented with these ridiculously expensive, not anywhere near as good multi blade razors). You simply cannot go wrong with this product. It lathers extremely well, it lasts a long time on the face, it doesn't dry out the skin, it provides a superb cushion for the blade and... on top of all this... it is ridiculously cheap! Other than snob value, why on earth would you pay 30 plus dollars for a boutique shaving soap that MIGHT, at BEST, provide the same as Arko....????

Ever since Williams shave soap went out if business I have been searching for another basic shave soap that didn’t cost a bundle and this is it. I think it’s actually better than William was and gives a nice thick lather. It’s designed to rub onto your wet face like applying a deodorant stick then lather-up with your shave brush, but I tried cutting the stick in half, putting it into my shave cup to use the same as traditional discs and it worked great. If you are a shave soap user who is tired of paying way too much for all the fancy scented soaps out there give this a try.

Some have said that they don't like the smell. Maybe they don't associate it with the same thing I do. It's the scent of vacation. A happy place. It took me a while to figure it out, but it reminded me of the generic tiny hotel soaps that were offered at every hotel stay when I was young. Now hotels offer their own special scents and that experience is lost. But I get a mini vacation every time my husband shaves. And he gets a great shave. He loves the lather and how long lasting it is. He's put part of a stick into an old container so it stays clean and fresh. Great value, too.

Works as expected. The scent is kind of a mix of lemon, rice-paper, and ??? I can see where people get the "urinal cake" description, but it's not overpowering and doesn't last all day. It's slicker than I imagined it would be, and based on just a few usages looks like it's going to last a long time. I plan on using this as my 'travel soap' so we'll see how that goes. It's a solid so not subject to the US TSA's ounce limit, and being a solid is more suited to face-lathering so I won't need a bowl with it.

performance is a 9.5 out of 10. I love the scent and it is my go to for business travel. A must for every wet shaver.

I have been using Arko shave soap for years . It is worth the buy. It gives you plenty of lather, especially when using a shaving brush. Arko has nice scent and last's a long time. You only need to get a few sticks at a time. A Much-recommended product.

I really wanted to like this product and tried it for several days. While the lather was rich and lubricated for a really good shave, in the end, it just made my face sting all day. No rash or anything, but there's something in it that did not agree with my flesh. Was not the razor, which is the first thought. Stinging went away immediately when I switched back to my old VDH. The scent is a bit strong, and noticeable, but not entirely unpleasant. Not to me, anyway. But it did noticeably linger all day, even after I washed with face soap. Hard to describe; lemony menthol, maybe. Or vaguely reminiscent of hospital antiseptic? It's a bit pong forward, if you will. So, maybe not what you want if you wear cologne or work in a scent free office, as do I. Had to bin the stuff as it was not useable as intended and no good for anything else. A shame. Live and learn. Your mileage may vary. I mean, some guys really like it. It's very inexpensive, so worth a shot. Didn't work out for me.

Pleasantly surprised by this product. Nice smell, doesn't take up much counter space. Just apply to your face, then build up a lather with a brush.
