Q: Does anyone have tips to make this work that are not in the instructions? I can tell it grabs the film, but then it slips loose before coming out.

After inserting Button B when you pull out the entire picker w/ both buttons A & B to the extreme left as specified in the instructions, do so while adding gentle pressure w/ the picker towards the canister. In other words gently press the entire picker down towards the canister when you pull it out of the cartridge. That will allow the slide sheets to create firmer grip on the film leader and grab the film leader more easily.
