Fill your head with some SEO knowledge
Great book, especially for beginners like me. It is written in a conversational format that flows easily. I'm not much of a reader and I found this book to be engaging and an easy page-turner. Technical jargon was explained well and there were a TON of resources listed throughout the book to delve deeper into topics of interest or tools of your choice. To me this book opened my eyes to the world of Google's search engine and I learned many things about it that I never knew before or had any idea even existed. But if you're an SEO pro, chances are you already know most of what's in the book. Don't let that discourage you if you dabble though. I thought this book was pretty up to date on info and in the very least one could learn what's coming around the bend, as well as new types of technology. For me, I feel as though I gained a valuable, all encompassing picture of SEO and it will help me to create a strategy to move forward with ranking goals.

Easy read, insightful and plenty of additional references. An excellent value.
A perfect book for a beginner like me. Reason for buying: Our company is outsourcing SEO support for our industrial e-commerce venue. It greatly helps that I can understand the concepts, glossary and very importantly, just how to check their work . Adam Clarke does a nice job of providing simplistic approaches to understanding the main concepts as well as providing a whole series of web sites to check things out and to learn more. Demystifying authors like Adam Clarke are always welcome to my business reading.

Book is for beginners, not much interesting info in this book except a couple nuggets. Very quick read.

Informative and contains a lot of useful information.
This book is a great read, and contains a lot of useful information for anyone that has a website. This book is not just for beginners (like myself) I would recommend this book to all professionals as well. Also this is not a one time read, there is a lot of information in here and it may take multiple times reading, to gather all of the information and put it to use.I gave it 4 out of 5 stars just because it felt like I was reading an instruction manual, but it was very well organized and explains why these steps are useful and important.

Very informative and easy to follow
I am using this book to set up my e-commerce site Appliedspeed.com. Adam's book is very, very helpful. It gives a step by step list of all the important things to do to get your SEO up to speed. Other books have been difficult to understand and to implement. I would recommend the book for all who are looking for smart internet marketing strategies.

Poor Grammar a Major Distraction + Functional Mistakes In the Material
I've just started going through the book, but I am already frustrated. For an edition that is supposedly "expanded and updated", it appears that the author never bothered enlisting the services of a copywriter or proofreader (nor did the publisher - unless this is a self-published effort). Mr. Clarke does not seem to understand the concept of singular and plural versions of verbs nor when a noun itself is singular or plural either. For me, these problems are like fingernails on a chalkboard, and completely interrupt my train of thought on the specific topic of SEO being discussed. For example, "only to discover the keywords you have targeted doesn't receive any traffic" (page 21) and "the media circus are partly to blame for this" (page 101 - "media" is plural but "circus" is singular).Unfortunately this appears to be another symptom of our social media/140-character random thoughts environment. Too many people have absorbed the belief that "it's close enough" and "they'll know what I meant". Sloppiness makes me question the accuracy of the rest of the material in the book, and whether the author had anyone review his work. There are also significant mistakes as well. For example, on page 27 he talks about signing up for a free Google Adwords account and using the Keyword Planner tool. What he fails to mention is that you cannot access the full function of that tool until you go through the complete registration of your Adwords account and create an actual ad campaign! And that includes setting up a daily budget (how much you want to spend in ads), what keywords to use as well as the text of the ad you wish to run on Google! (BTW, I called Google and confirmed this.) Which is kind of ridiculous since the purpose of that section of the book is to determine what keywords you should be putting in your website!Time to cut my losses, I guess, and get another book on SEO.

If You're a Real Beginner I'd Suggest You Buy Something Else
I really don't like this book and I'll tell you why. Here's a sample of the kind of advice you'll get:Chapter heading: How to Acquire Links(Body text) Acquire Links naturally and organically over time.I don't have the book in front of me right now so that's not a quote, but that's the general idea. I mean, if a chapter was called How to Ride a Bike and the advice was, "Ride the bike naturally and organically over time," then do you see the problem? He's not telling you HOW, or for that matter, maybe I don't even know what he means by "acquire links" or half the other terms he uses. I might have a vague idea, but I bought a book in hopes of someone fully explaining it to me.If you're a real beginner I suggest you go with some other book, because I am admittedly a beginner and this book is doing zilch for me.
