Do NOT buy this product.
Do NOT buy this product:As other have reviewed, it IS true that is could potentially mess up your VCR. This is exactly what happened to me. Followed the directions, put the unit in, pressed play. Then, a noise and it stopped. It kicked the tape out and the white paperish thing that cleans it was all pulled out. I was able to get the tape out. When I went to put a real VHS tape in, it wouldn't go in. It was if something was stuck. So, I took the cover off and played around with it the hunges on the left and right moving from side to side and finally I heard a click and now my VCR is back to normal. My recommendation is to purchase a non fabric cloth that is smooth like those you would use on your eye glasses. Open the case if you're comfortable, fine the big silver head that has lines along the side. This is the Video Drum Head. You can put some Isyprobol (not rubbing alcohol) alcohol on the cloth. Then press gently side of the drum (the reading part) and then with your fingers, spin the head a few times. This cleaned my video head perfectly.

Works great!
Only used 1 time so far. With initial use, vcr worked much better. I've missed watching my home movies. Ill run it a couple more times before our next movie night.

the cleaning tape is a little thin but it works
it works good enough. my vcr doesn't like spinning it so i have to pop it out, advance a bit and put it back in, but it cleaned it pretty well despite not even working how it's supposed to. the tape is a little thin so i don't feel like it's cleaning the whole head but that could also just be me. the spring for the gears also could be stiffer sometimes it's i grab it there it just slips in and misaligns.

It works, but with some caveats
As a whole, the unit works as advertised. It cleaned up my VHS player that I hadn't used in years. I was able to convert VHS to digital on dozens of home movies. The tapes and the unit were so dirty, I ended up buying multiple cleaners to use after every couple of tapes to keep up the quality of these 30+ year old videos. Especially the first couple, the quality of the video was awful, but after using the cleaning tape (which came out almost black from all the neglect), the quality markedly improved. The caveats:These units are very cheaply made. In order to make them work properly I had to push my finger in the bottom where the gears are (the part you would turn to rewind it, if too much comes out) and then make sure they are centered. Seems the tolerances are too big and the sprocket wheel tends to slide to one side and get stuck when inserted.I also had to take the cover off the VCR because every so often, even using the above procedure, the sprockets wouldn't align properly once inserted and the cleaning tape would spew out into the inside of the unit. There isn't that much cleaning tape, so it wasn't a big issue. Just annoying. Make sure the tape isn't wound around anything important, eject the tape, manually rewind, align the sprockets and insert again. All in all, you get what you pay for and for the price, it did what it was supposed to do, as long as you are willing to do some monkeying around.

Do Not Buy
This is the cheapest crap ever. Was a used VHS with marks and scratches all over it. The tab where the liquid was stored was broken and it broke after one use. It says it can be used up to 30 times. No way .... It ripped out the paper section that is supposed to do the cleaning. Not worth dollars let alone 14.99.
