Lightweight with good performance ?!!
VAX BLADE 4 now 31 months old. Batteries and unit will soon be out of warranty. Hence the BOSCH early arrival to take it's place. Picks up better and has a quality feel to the Gen2 Model. 2 batteries. Floor head is better engineered. I'd only just used the VAX and the Bosch still found some dirt. Good. Only 2 yr warranty on this though. N.B This Vaccum is picky. Doesn't like the bedroom carpet. It's not long pile but it stalls and the lights goes out on the head. Doesn't matter what setting, it stalls. Piss poor. Blade 4 managed it ok. UPDATE: 06/01/24 - Very flaky performance! Flickering lights on the floor head. Brush Bar Stalls!!! does not like my carpet. Unit then turns off. Battery off and back on. Works again. But for how long? WARNING LIGHT, 10 MINUTES RUN TIME, #HEAD DOESN'T WORK ON ANY CARPET. RETURN & REFUND.

Built to last
Bought this to replace our Henry Vacuum Cleaner that was just getting to heavy for me and my wife both in our late 60s. This is a solid piece of kit good suction especially if you have the turbo on,a smaller brush attachment ideal for the stairs. All attachments fit nicely onto the vacuum but they are a tight fit. only had this around a month now charges up in about 4 hours and its a lot quicker than a Henry and easier to use its not as light as my daughter's shark but it does seem very well built

Perfect on hard floors, not so good on carpets
If you have a fully carpeted house, I would not recommend this. It is ideal on hard floors and OK of short, tight weave carpets. On thicker and longer pile it really is difficult to use and not as good at picking up. Initially, I got this with the intention of just using it to clean up small messes as I didn’t think it was going to be that good, but it has become the first vacuum I reach for and the mains powered vacuum is only used on our stairs, landing and master bedroom where we have carpet. On low power, the vacuum can easily handle the whole house using a 2.5ah battery (the Amazon pictures show a 3.0ah battery), and it will pick up pet hair and dust very quickly, there is no real need to use the power boost. The brush head is easy to maintain as the inner roller brush can be easily removed. The dust bin pops off with a single button press and can be quickly emptied. The filter has a built in “beater” that knocks dust out of it – it is OK, but now and then it might need an air duster to blow through it. It comes with a smaller roller head for car seats and furniture. A crevice brush for getting into tight places, an upholstery head and a brush head. The brush head was not great as it keeps slipping down to expose the shorter crevice tool. There is also 2 spare brush rollers and a wall mount for charging whilst put away. I don’t use the wall mount as I have a range of tools that use the Power 4 All Alliance battery, and I have a separate charger. If you are not already aware, the battery used in this is compatible with other manufacturers tools, not just Bosch, it is one of the reasons I opted to go with this vacuum. The vacuum is light weight and much quieter, easier to use and more convenient than getting the mains vacuum out. A quick charge and you are ready to go again. My only negative, and it is minor, is that the power on butting is in the forefinger trigger position. When you are vacuuming, you have to keep your finger off the trigger which is not that natural for a hand grip. There is a tendency to keep squeezing the power button and powering it off. Other than that I have no regrets buying it.

Low quality and lasted 5 weeks
Battery life never up to the spec advertised. 20 mins at most and then 4.5hours to charge.?! Packed up completely after 5 weeks of less than average use Currently awaiting a response from Bosch. July update: after two home service visits organised by Bosch engineer fixed it although “he’d only ever worked on this vac model once before so didn’t seem to know what he was doing. It worked and seemed fixed. After another 3 months of stopping working and giving a long charge each time it probably only worked 25% of the time. I’d have to try the next day to see if it would fancy working or not. Really frustrating and we had to buy a cheap and cheerful budget Amazon cleaner as a contingency which was a godsend. To Amazons credit they accepted back in June (as Bosch would only re-repair) and I ordered a RoboRock Q5 Pro and IT IS AMAZING; and a bargain.!!!!

Efficient cleaner, but annoying design flaws.
We bought this to replace a Dyson V8. It is much better than the Dyson at actually picking up dirt. It is conveniently mounted on a wall in the utility room, so always ready for use. There are 3 power levels and I generally run it on “Auto”. There is one head which can be used on all surfaces and Auto means it adjusts its speed according to the surface. No need to keep changing the brush head., Turbo power is useful when cleaning things like car upholstery and floor mats, but quickly uses battery capacity. The spare battery means that I can clean much more of the house in one go. We have a large open plan living area, with wooden floors and the Dyson often used to run out of charge before completing the job, even though Inreplaced the battery a couple of times. The Bosch does the whole area with charge to spare and picks up much better. If I was rating it just on cleaning performance this would be a 5 star review. However, those design flaws! Firstly it is a slightly unwieldy machine, not well balanced, and my wife finds it a a little heavy and cumbersome (or is that just a ploy to get me to use it? ). The dust collection chamber is far too small, largely because most of it is taken up by a filter. ( see picture) This means that when cleaning a carpeted room, I often have to empty the container before moving to the next area. Emptying it is a PITA. The whole collection section has to be removed from the motor unit. The filter then has to be removed from its enclosure and the fine dust, which it collects very efficiently, has to be cleaned out of the filter grooves. This is not a job to do indoors, as you finish up spreading the dust all over the place, even with the filter held inside a rubbish bag, I have large compost heaps and, as long as it is not raining too hard, I empty the container into one of these. I use a paintbrush to clean out the grooves in the filter ( no cleaning tool supplied), making sure the wind is blowing away from me. The dusting brush is combined with the upholstery tool. This is a real bit of cheap skate design; when you are using this tool, the brush gets pushed back, so the surface being cleaned is then in contact with the upholstery head, which is not ideal. (The Dyson had several dusting brushes and a separate upholstery head.) Finally the click and lock mechanism is a bit hit and miss. It works OK with the main cleaning head, but the dusting brush/ upholstery tool often gets stuck and needs a real tug to remove it from the stick. It does have 10 year warranty on the motor, so I expect I will go on using it for a while, in spite of its flaws.
