Perfect For New Players At A Great Price!
Introducing new players to Magic can be a tricky ordeal; knowing where to start, learning the rules, and acquiring cards are all time and money investments that absolutely serve as barriers to entry for newer or prospective players. "What decks to buy, what decks to make? Where do I start, how do I learn, how much money do I need?", are all relevant and natural questions new players may ask. Currently Arena stands as the most efficient way of introducing somebody to the game, as it's completely free and comes with an in game tutorial and starter decks to get playing. However, Arena may not always be feasible for new players, and playing in paper is a more authentic, simple, feasible, and can really help spark interest and connection to the game for new players that Arena may not do, while also being a lot more handy and less daunting. This is where this kit comes in; 2 basic decks and a basic rule book means you can get started playing instantly and very easily. I picked this kit up to introduce a family member to Magic, and was blown away by the contents and the pricing. I picked this up for 7EUR, about 5GBP, which is an incredible deal. It is neatly packaged, and to the point. The rules book covers the basics nicely, while omitting any more advanced mechanics as to not alienate players. The same can be true for the card designs, the rares and effects of cards in this deck are very basic and not very keyword heavy, and I find it is vanilla enough without being too stale or lame. The arena codes packaged are also very cool to take the decks into the client if players want to continue play on a digital platform. My only criticism of this kit is that it does not contain any dice for life points and for counters. The rules even mention dice for life total and counters, and the green deck has a few cards that make counters, so not including them here feels like a fail to me as you will be distirbuting counters. This is not the biggest deal as you can simply choose to ignore this or use pen and paper given this is for beginners, but I still think including a few cheap dice would have been a better design, even for a slight price increase. So I recommend you pick up some dice with your order if you think that is important.Overall, super happy with this product as getting new players simply into the game and playing with some cardboard is not easy to do currently so I feel like this kit serves to help with that problem at a very affordable price. The cards are all from current standard legal sets for 2022, so if players wish to get more into the game, they can use every card included in this kit for the coming years! Highly recommend this product as a cheap and easy way to get newcomers into the game and dip their toes in!

Rules are not clear enough for beginners PLEASE MAKE A BETTER RULE BOOK!
The cards and game seem fantastic and I can see the value for money - BUT...The rules document is useless. It doesn't even tell you how many cards you should start with in your hand, or whether you are supposed to use all the cards in the deck - with all the different lands, or just stick to a specified land type and creature type. Its Sooooooo confusing. There should be a beginners walk through.I can't make head nor tale of the game..... and then using the online tutorial is worse. It all moves so fast that you cant keep up with all the changes, effects and additons and subtractions. If you start with zero knowledge you are in trouble. There are no tokens (not even paper ones), no life counters etc...You definately cant just use what they give you to start your game. This said when you do get started its fantastic and so you have to use youtube tutorials or have someone show you how to play.

Great value pack for beginners
If you're interested starting playing Magic: The Gathering, then this is a great introduction to the game. In this set you get two 60 card decks, each of which contains 5 rare cards, two deck boxes made of card, a play guide and a code to unlock both decks in Magic: The Gathering Arena. Unlike some previous starter decks, this has a bit more complexity, since each deck is a two colour deck. The only thing missing is a pair of spindown life counters but at less than £7, this set is still a bargain.

Useless without a proper way to learn to play
The so called rule book is a useless bit of paper and the rules there make no sense. It doesn't lead you by example and tell you how to play at all.I cannot download the software from online as I do not have a computer with the required operating system so again totally useless. There is no online pdf or any way to learn the rules like they used to have in the old decks, and this insistence on going online when I can't use it is a waste of time. The product will probably go to a charity store or the bin as I feel they've missed out on a potential customer with their short sighted blinkered view on not having a truly cross platform was of learning.

Honest review by DM
I'm new to the magic world. But. The set is really basic. Not even talking partly basic. It's really basic. You get one strong card for each deck, multiple duplicates of a couple other cards and the rest is card power up cards, example forest, fire etc. And a box each for two decks.I thought there would be offensive, defensive, attacking cards. Literally not worth playing with this.

They are great for newbies, okay for existing players.
It's a starter deck, if you're new I'd say buy it as it's price is good value. I bought it as an existing mtg player and collector so if I'm honest it was a little lacklustre, a few nice additions I can brew decks around are in here (mind flayer) but overall my intention was to break them down anyways and use in other decks. 120 cards though is worth it and for a newbie definitely a good start.

Both 2021 Starter Sets Are The Same Product
The two 2021 starter sets are exactly the same product, just repackaged with different cards foiled and shown in the preview. I got both expecting four different decks to play with new players; instead I have two decks doubled.Don't make my mistake and think that the two starter sets are two different products. They arent.

Doesn't activate online
The cards are beautiful and it's a fun set of decks to play. Sadly it fails to activate when using MTG Arena and I raised a ticket with support over a week ago, but they haven't responded.Only buy this if you plan on playing offline.
