No twist, it just sits there. Works great for us, but might not work well if you have too many wires that push against it. We actually are only using the bottom trim piece, in a countertop, with clothes washer drain and supply lines running through it.

The hole through the counter needs to be exactly 2 1/2" in diameter correct? Putting them in granite kitchen counter which is 1" thick?

Yes, 2 1/2” for the hole. The depth of the hole should be fine. It doesn’t really matter because it will sit flush at the top. It’s like half of a grommet if that makes sense.

How large is the opening where the cord goes? Needs to be big enough to put a coffee pot plug through to reach the outlet.

You pull the inner plug out, fit the plug-ends of cords down through the big (2.5" diameter opening), then slide the cords into the inner plug slot and replace it into the bigger opening. Make sense? You don't need to ever fit plug-ends through the smaller slot.

Could I for my Echo power supply/wall wart through the hole? The actual hole is how big (not the holes i need to drill)?

It comes in two pieces so you can feed the plug end through larger 2 1/2” hole then put the cover on. The smaller opening is about 3/4”
