My 8 year old loves rocks and gemstones and had such a great time with this kit! To start, the kit is huge. With 8 stones to uncover there is plenty of adventure. My son loved that the kit was designed to look like the continents you would find the rocks on. The book is packed with great information that’s easily digestible for kids and full of great photos as well. My son loved using it to identify and then learn about the gemstones he was uncovering. It took him a couple of hours to finish the kit, which really makes you feel like you’ve got your moneys worth! The tools are great quality and held up to all of the digging needed for the kit, and a lot of digging in the backyard afterwards! I like that they’re plastic - they were colorful and easy to hold. The box doubles as a dig site and a display case. Digging inside of the lid was great because it contained the mess and helped avoid lost gemstones. My son loves the display case. He had a lot of fun using the book to identify the gemstones and putting them into the right spots in the display case. We’ve done a lot of dig kits and this is definitely a favorite!

My 10 year old granddaughter really loves this kit. She mines for the gems completely on her own and decided to only uncover 1 or 2 at a time. She has had a lot of fun with this and is fascinated with the gems themselves.

This was bought as a birthday present for my home educated daughter. She loved it. We have had kits like this before but they are cheap and she doesn't learn anything, or plastic pretend rocks or treasures. Each rock/continent has a few stones in it. It took a few different goes so it lasted. The learning guide that went along with it was great, learning about the stone and the place it came from. The box turning into a display case was nice, although ours didn't stand up and my daughter got a wooden one for her birthday so used that instead.

My kids had so much fun with this set! They couldn’t open the box quick enough and were so excited when they started revealing the 8 different gems. We’ve done a lot of digging sets and what I like about this one is that you don’t need to wet it down, you can just start digging with the provided tools. The digging surface isn’t too hard or weak and it took them a good hour to get to all the gems. The box also converts to a display case to categorize and display the case. Great gift idea for any science or STEM loving kids!
