I modified it a little and used it for my terrarium display. It does get pretty warm, but works for my application. Pretty simple design and not built very heavy duty. It takes some adjustment with the light and when you do it kinda loosens the nut that holds it tight. You can get it stable, but not tightly secure at the light part.

I have to admit, I wasn’t sure this was going to work. I needed a light for my Regal Jumping Spider. It works perfectly! It puts out a small amount of heat which warms the spider but he sits far enough away that it isn’t too much. The shelf that the light is attached to is real wood and is bigger than I thought it would be! I love the brightness setting and the ease of the toggle switch to turn it off and on.

This is a great light for the price, I used this for a smaller tank first but upgraded to a larger overhead light. I find it to be very bright, maybe too bright for some plants like anubias so ensure that your plants can handle higher light intensity. It swivels and the light can move but the swiveling action makes it feel a bit unsupported so not the sturdiest construction there. This works great with smart plugs, I had mine connected to that with Amazon Alexa. Just make sure the switch is in the on position all the time so they could turn on and off at specific times scheduled in your smart plug app. This is a very light item, the base has most of the weight. Beyond that the cord is plenty long enough to reach my tank and more, I have never had issues with the light not being able to reach where it needs to be. The light came fully assembled so getting it where it needs to be was all that was required. Overall, this is a great light especially for a bowl. I would recommend with the only caveat being the construction not the best.

This light is almost too bright for a simple planted jar, unexpected for the price compared to twice as much for a similar product. Great value! However the light itself gets so hot that it could burn your hand if you touched the top of it for more than a second. For safety reasons, that worries me. I've had it on a 6 hour timer for several days now though with no issues. Not sure why the review is asking me to talk about the timer, it does not come with one, just a simple on/off switch on the cord. With all that said, I would buy it again.

Based on reviews it seems like you have a high chance of getting a defective light. I ordered one and [same as other people] it started flashing after 5 min and then shut off permanently. More concerning though is that the light got super duper hot at the base where it plugs into the wall. I feel that this, combined with the weird flashing defective behavior, might be a fire hazard. I would not buy this.

Good light, works great for my jumping spiders. Im able to fit four medium sized enclosures on the wood plank and they all get plenty of light from it.

It’s a nice product. However, the light doesn’t do well plugged directly into a wall socket. It tends to flicker and go off all together without being attached to a surge protector. Even then, it still tends to flicker! It only stops flickering after you remove it for several hours or several days! I like it! I just don’t like the overall functionality.

perfect size for my 7 inch wide x 11 inch tall jar. fits well on my console. USB charger / power supply not included. I had a few phone charger that I used, in conjunction w a kasa tp-link smart timer. the metal ring does get very hot. so I dont know the longevity of the lamp / led light. i am buying a second one. other similar ones, with included power supply cost $30 more.
