Best investment ever
I'm a contractor and do pretty much everything and forever now we have been using rigid vacuums and we are always buying new bags and new filters to protect our clients houses and to keep dust to a minimum which also helps keep clean up to a minimum and for the last 6 years we go to Home Depot and spend 30 plus dollars on a two pack of bags and probably replace the filter every six bags that we use but not anymore not only do we not buy bags and filters anymore but we also don't lose suction power because as the bags in the filters get full and dirty you lose suction power little by little but with this thing I would say about 95% of everything that we suck up goes into the Cyclone device which leaves a very small amount that goes into the actual vacuum and with that working so well we have actually stopped buying the bags and stopped mine filters all we do is bang out the filter maybe once every two weeks and like I said we don't even buy bags anymore because the amount that goes into the vacuum is so small it's not even necessary you just got to have a good filter but most importantly the suction power doesn't change I can fill up that DeWalt separator container about 60% before I ever have to empty it and also you can literally suck up water and it goes in there you can suck up dirt rocks everything and anything I mean we have literally done Plumbing work outside where we've had the dig holes and cut live lines and I've used it to suck not only the water but the dirt the mud and the rocks and everything goes into the separator before it goes into the vacuum and it also makes it easier to clean all you do is take off the top piece and dump out the little yellow DeWalt container and hose it out but the fact that I can pick up anything I want now is amazing we used to demo bathrooms and we would sweep up a lot of the stuff and again we'd have to go through bags and filters and eventually we would lose suction power but not anymore I am able to suck up anything I want as long as it fits through the two and a half inch hose I am all good not to mention I've shown other contractors like our floor removal guys and not only did they fall in love with it but they bought about five of them the day after I let them use ours because they use these angle grinders with these resurfacing tools and they have vacuums attached to it and if anyone's ever seen them they make so much dust and they would go through bags and filters and the vacuum would work beautifully to suck up the dust from there angle grinder with the circuit resurfacing tool for about 1 minute it would suck up dust after that the whole house would be a cloud of smoke so I had them try it out because I knew how good the tool worked they laughed at me and told me that they didn't even want to try it so I talked to their boss and their boss knows me and knows that I buy every tool in the world so he told them to give it a shot the guy literally within 5 minutes of using it so he told his boss it was amazing which I already knew that because he wasn't in a big cloud of smoke I could actually see him using it so like I said they bought a whole handful of them and now they use them on every job but again the most important part is you do not lose any suction power and you can suck up anything in the vacuum stay strong the only thing you need to remember is you need to have a good hose because it keeps your vacuum so strong that I have actually had hoses collapse because the power is so strong so that's the number one thing have good stiff hoses that aren't going to collapse on you and you will love this thing if you do anything like I do another cool thing about it is because it's a whole separate thing there are numerous times where I will have the vacuum outside of the room I'm working in I use the big orange rigid hoses which are about 6 to 8 ft long and I will have the vacuum outside of the bathroom and have the hose in the bathroom with me with the DeWalt separator which obviously makes no noise so I don't have to deal with the loud noise of the vacuum and the vacuum is still right next to me sucking everything up now on that same note when I don't need to benefit from it being separated like that in two different rooms which is honestly amazing and great I do have a piece of Romex that I use to pretty much tie the two together so if I am in one room when I pull on the hose they both pull together otherwise I have had a few times where all Yank on the hose and if my rigid vacuum wheels don't move very well like Unfortunately they don't move very well I've had the hoses unconnect so I came up with a little rig job where I have taken a piece of scrap Romex and pretty much just tied one handle to the other handle so now when I pull the vacuum hose they both come together but that's only something I do sometimes but either way I use it all the time for sanding I'll hook my orbital sander up and connect it to the vacuum and all the dust from anything that I sand goes into the extractor and not in the vacuum and I still have max power on my suction so definitely check it out guys for the price I promise you you won't regret it just in one month it's paid for itself just saving me money on the rigid vacuum bags and filters that I had been buying for years so I wish I bought this a long time ago what really turns me on to it was I got a buddy of mine that owns a wood making shop and when I saw his huge dust extractor I started looking into it and I love to walk tools so when I saw this I just had to buy it and also the wheels on the DeWalt extractor move super super easy they are great Wheels so hopefully you guys enjoy it as much as I do and I never do reviews by the way never ever ever but I had to do a review on this because me and all my guys and everybody that ever sees it absolutely love it just like the demo flooring guys we've been using them for over a year now and every time they come to a job for us he bust out all of his extractors with his rigid vacuums and always always gives me a handshake and a hug and says thank you for introducing this to him because he also agrees that not only has it saved him money but it's also made him look much more professional and has kept customers' homes much cleaner when they are using their angle grinders and the resurfacing disc where they are literally grinding off the top layer of thinset or glue or whatever on the foundation of the client's home

Great Dust Separator
This is 1 of the better Dust Separator systems that I have used. It is compact enough that I did not have to customize my workbench much to get it to fit. Very effective in it use as well

This cyclone works great!
Very easy to set-up and use. Clears and traps 95+% of all dust before it goes to the vacuum. Worth it if you're grinding concrete or stone.

This works very well, even with very fine ash.
I bought this to pre-filter the stuff I was sucking up after a shop fire. I bought this and a shop vac brand new and used them together. After sucking up very black ash, the interior of the shop vac (also a DeWalt, one of the quiet ones) had only a light tinge of the black color. I was very impressed at the ability of this to remove even the fine particles of ash. When I get my shop back and running, I'll use this to suck sawdust from whatever woodworking equipment I'm using and I won't have to clean the shop vac filter every 10 minutes...jeez, that's a pill. I wish I'd had one of these years ago.

Very well designed dust cyclone - perfect for my small shop
The DeWalt dust cyclone ticks most of the boxes when looking for a cyclone separator for your small work shop. It's engineered well and purpose built unlike some of the other units designed for a 5 gallon painters bucket. The lid attaches tightly to the collection container* with clips and the wheels screw into mounting studs designed into the container without piercing the container directly. Same with the cyclone - it screws onto the lid without actually piercing the lid (genius DeWalt)! The unit is low to the ground and although the wheels are smaller than I would have liked, they are sufficiently large enough to roll over floor mats, cables, and other odds and ends that end up on the floor during a project without falling over. The dust cyclone works well with most of the debris remaiing in the collection container. The only complaint I have is that the hose that comes with the unit is a 1 7/8" hose which is not what most of my tools have (router table, Rikon 10" band saw and DeWalt mobile job site table saw are all 2 1/2" ports. the cyclone handles both 1 7/8" or 2 1/2" hoses, so I will simply add the 1 7/8" hose to the pile of stuff I don't use in the shop - and abandon the convenient hose storage on the lid of the unit (it's only designed for the 1 7/8" hose). I did add hose clamps to the cyclone to make both connections secure. The price is perfect for my home shop budget and I recommend this for anyone looking for a good small scale cyclone unit.*Note: I refer to the dust collection unit as a "container" - it was purpose built and is not a 5 gallon bucket. It is low and wide to the floor and the wheel assemblies snap and screw into the base making it super stable as you pull it around the shop.

YOU CAN'T BEAT IT! $104
Amazing! I put this with a 6 gal Dewalt stealthsonic vac and cut MDF for 20 hours, looked inside the vac and it was dead empty! I'm not kidding. This thing was 1/2 full of MDF "flour" I didn't believe what I was seeing. Go on youtube and see all the endless vids about making or getting the ultimate dust separator. Ridiculous! this thing is perfect and it costs $104 done! what's finer than MDF "flour" nothing I've ever cut

A little bulky, but a game changer with dust control!
One more step in keeping my work areas quite a bit cleaner. I ordered a 16' hose (with multiple adaptors) and my basement workshop (and my home) are much lest dusty. My shop vac, which is actually an old home canister vacuum, supplies more than enough power to efficiently run the separator and after numerous projects, almost no dust/dirt/sawdust in the vacuum bag, it was almost all in the sawdust separator. There is no bag in the separator, but it is very easy to empty, very light weight but rugged. Best thing so far is that usually a sanding job meant multiple trips to the trash to empty/replace vacuum bags. No more! No loss of vacuum from fine sawdust clogs, and less dust in the air.
