Excellent kitchen torch and Easy
Researched quite a bit and decided on this Iwatani kitchen torch. It is solid; well made, excellent and easy to use. First purchased for creme brûlée (of course) but soon will be using it to finish steak, sushi, salmon etc. Make sure you read all of the instructions. Very easy to use with butane can which you must purchase separately just about anywhere. Standard fit for all butane cans. No need to purchase their butane which is a bit high in price compared to others which are fine and compatible with the torch.

Crazy large flame, but I'd like an automatic gas shutoff
We're used to using much smaller torches to caramelize the sugar on crème brûlée and to light wood chips for a cocktail smoker, but those tended to have a short lifespan and were a pain to fill. When our last one broke, we upgraded to this restaurant quality torch.I like that it attaches to a butane can, so I don't have to worry about filling a torch, which was always a pain. I also like that I can remove it from the can for safe storage. It's fairly easy to use. You stick it on the top of a standard 8 ounce butane can, then twist it to lock. To turn on the claim, you twist a wheel on the back to turn on the gas, then pull the trigger to light it. After that, you can adjust the flame with the wheel, and you turn it off by turning the wheel to off. (I think it might leak gas if you left the wheel on without lighting the torch, so don't do that! You can hear a hiss and smell gas when it's on and unlit.)The flame is tremendous, maybe half an inch wide and several inches long, even at the lowest setting. When I use it on my cocktail smoker, the glass fills with smoke immediately, like some kind of magic trick.

It works for sure
I used the kitchen torch using a left over butane cartridge (8 oz) from an asian neighborhood store. The flame output was yellow at the tip. No adjustments turned he flame blue. At first, I thought this torch was a bad broduct. However, all the good reviews could not be wrong. I got a new 8 oxz can from the same Asian store and tried it with the torch. To m surprse, Ithe torch spewed clean blue flame. Happy as a Lark. I seared some rib eye steaks. Worked very well. I guess, old left over butane cans may become "bad". Who knows!!! I tried the same left over cans with my new Iwatani burner. Yes, the yellow flame was visibly more pronounced. Later, I replaced with the "new" cartridge and litup the Iwatani burner. Excellent blue pure flame with the Iwatani butane torch as well as Iwatani burner. Highly recommend using The Iwatani butane cartridge for any Iwatani product.

Much better than the cheap ones
I have 2 of the cheap torches similar to this. The first one worked pretty well, but started leaking. The second one leaked badly right from the beginning. This one cost about 3 times as much, but it did not leak at all, and the flame was very hot. I would recommend spending the extra.
