About 3/4 through the spiral-bound version of this book. I think if you’re getting this, get the spiral version so it lays flat on your desk. Both are sold on Amazon. The instructions are very well laid out and very easy to follow. I think I’ve learned more in a few days than in years of running SQL Queries that had been written for me. Important: to follow along flawlessly you will need to download the free SQLite. I already had SQLSMS. With a bit of tweaking I was able to use the included database in both systems and see the subtle differences between them. Most sql queries work in both exactly as written in the book. There are a few things that needed to be changed slightly to work in SQLSMS such as Limit vs Top. I think it would be nice if the book had called out the subtle differences in the hints section but maybe there are too many different Sql systems to list any differences. You will need to actually sit and type out these queries. Don’t just try to read. It is best to learn by doing. All in all, I love this book and know I will use it for reference once I’m through it.

Great book, worth the money!
Simple to follow along and well-written. I work with data every day as part of my job and would say that it's helpful for both beginners and experts looking to brush up on SQL and understanding of relational databases. Well worth the money spent.
