Good for beginners...
I'm new to wood carving/whittling so I wanted to start with a lower-end knife set before investing too much money. These knives are ok. They came pre-sharpened but I find the knives lose their edge pretty quickly (using basswood, which is a softer wood). I have yet to use the U-tool but the v-tool has been useful in doing outlines and seems to be holding its edge pretty well. So far, I have been able to produce several "little people" figures. I do look forward to getting some knives that stay sharp a bit longer.p.s. Get yourself a pair of cut-resistant gloves. These are definitely sharp enough to give you a serious cut.

Good grip
New to my collection of carving knifes, the first thing i will say is, it's very comfortable in my hand, fun to carve small details and easy to maintain.
