John W. Schaum Piano Course Levels Pre-A Through D – Alfred Music

I learned on the John I learned on the John Schaum method when I was a young girl. I’m now in my 70s and decided to resurrect playing the piano again I bought the series of books to refresh my memory, and was amazed how much came back to me, even though I have not played the piano for many years, I highly recommend these books to anyone

As a lay person (or not an actual piano teacher, but someone who took piano lessons using the Schaum course), I can't overstate how great the Schaum course is. It has something for every skill level. If anything, it might be "slow to start" for some tastes, but I see that as a positive, especially . The books teach notes, scales, chords, time signatures, key signatures, hand positioning & techniques, sitting posture, sight reading, and even some history about the songs being taught and of the piano itself. Many of the songs are simplified adaptations of well-known pieces that are hopefully familiar, and therefore fun to play.

These piano books are the same exact books from many years ago only remade. They have included color drawings.

Green book especially feature songs that kids already know so they very much enjoy learning them

I started with Pre level and worked my way through the Red book, now I’m ready for the blue level. Good pace for me. I don’t feel rushed. My piano teacher recommended this series.

These are the books I learned to play the piano with when I was a child. Life circumstances took me away from the keyboard, but now that the kids are out of the house I have time to play again. So it was exciting for me to be able to find these so I could begin learning again.
