Nice tool. If in tough soils, rocks, or grass, try the 65 VW instead.
This is a very nice tool. I'm 6'3" and the handle suits me fine. I can reach far under trees and stuff to get to those stubborn weeds (rather than crawling on the ground with a hand tool). Very nice in dirt, sandy type soils, flower beds, and gardens. Very quick and easy for small weeds. Does okay on medium weeds. Established plants with thick roots like clover and alfalfa are very resistant to this tool. If it's got a root like those, you need something else. Knocks out small sage no problem. Sage with thick stems and branches? Need something else. For dandelions mixed into tough grass turf, this tool is a little fatiguing to do the push-pull thing to get them out one at a time. I found myself going back squatting with a hand pick. It was much faster. Then my rogue hoe 65 VW arrived with the pointy tip. Popped out weeds from grass turf without difficulty. It was also easier and faster in the driveway gravel parking areas. The pointy tip made it easier to get under the rocks, dig through the weeds, and rake everything back with the other end of the 65 VW. Both have their uses. The VW is going to sort of plow the ground like you're going to plant stuff, or you can use the wider end to make a flatter cut. The 575G makes pretty even cuts. It does have a bowed edge. The sides are pretty good for single weeds. The wide edge lets you take out groups of weeds with ease. If you've got really tough soil, lots of rocks, thick grass turf ... you may want the 65 VW instead. The 65 slices through that stuff. I guess if I could only have one, I'd use the 65 VW with the rocky soils around here. The 575 feels lighter to me.

Worth the money!
The design was a little different than the posting, but the overall product was as expected. This a repeat buy, and when contacting the seller, they noted noted that they were in the process of updating the photos with the updated design. I was unsure about it at first, but after using all summer, I absolutely love it. Had to get this second one because the first one was a few years ago for my husband, but I was always using it. Happy with the quality!

A truly useful hoe!
A truly useful hoe! I broke my back and am in a wheelchair this year, but I need to care for all of my flower beds, so I ordered this hoe, after much consideration. I needed a lightweight hoe, but one that was sturdy and reliable, and this Rogue Garden Hoe turned out to be exactly right for me. I couldn't lift a heavy hoe from my chair, but I needed one with enough heft to dig into the ground and not just drag across the top. And it needed to be sharp, and oh, my! this hoe is sharp! Because I am not able to swing the hoe, pretty much just using a short chopping motion, I am slow, but I can wreck the lives of most weeds, only needing help with an occasional big bully weed. I usually turn it on edge for the extra digging action but the longer edge is great for pushing the mulch back into place without bending. I have found this hoe to be very easy to use, even for a person in a wheelchair, and I can heartily recommend it to anyone needing a sharp, maneuverable hoe.

Time will tell
OK, I will admit I know way too much about grubbing hoes as I grew up on a row-crop farm down South just before the herbicide revolution arrived where cotton still had to be chopped and peanuts, corn, gardens, yards, cemeteries and other places in the countryside all had to hoed to control the onslaught of weeds. I was in need of a new garden hoe and was intrigued by the Rogue line and got this one for its narrow blade design despite for what I consider a high price for any hoe. I received an email from the manufacturer thanking me for my purchase, warning me that the tool was sharp and to let them know if there were any problems ( I like that). The hoe arrived as promised and while the hoe was sharpened, it was not sharp (there is a big difference and I understand the liability issues, etc.). A few minutes with a good file got the burr (wire edge) and glint off all the edges and was soon to what I considered sharp enough to work. I sanded a couple of minor paint runs off the handle, applied a couple of extra coats of exterior lacquer to the handle and it was ready to hit the dirt. And work it does. I like the design, weight and balance of the tool as its sharp corners and sides can snag crabgrass from the tightest spots while the wide blade takes care of the open areas with relative ease. The longer handle also helps in reaching over garden rows to hit weeds without me having to bend over. Build quality is good. The only concern I have is that I noticed that about 1/2" of the blade seems to have a spot of "course" steel that I fear might wear faster than the rest of the edge. The file pulls larger, grit-like filings from this area and the edge there, while still sharp, is just a bit more jagged than the rest of the blade after long use. Maybe there was a flaw in the casting or tempering of the disk blade that this one came from. Time will tell. Anyway, I'm keeping it and besides, I don't intend to spend my waning days trying to wear this tool out if I can help it.
