Bigger than you think
Having gotten used to the more upright Taller bread machines, this one is a lower, sleeker design which for us, makes it easier to stow away when not in use. The bowl is more retangular and makes a more "regular" looking loaf and with the weights starting at 2lb, makes bigger loaves. The twin paddle design works well and dough is thoroughly mixed and a hooking tool designed to remove hot paddles from within the loaf is an awesome idea. Dearer than some, cheaper than some others but a worthy successor to our now retired Panasonic.

beware recipes
This is the first bread maker I have bought but have made bread by hand many times. My concern is the recipe booklet because it lists ridiculously large amounts of sugar in the basic bread recipe (haven't tried any other recipe yet). This is completely unnecessary in my opinion. I add one teaspoon of sugar and the loaf has tuned out very well. Also tried using with wholemeal and soda bread ready mix, lovely results.

Disappointing really
I did my research and found this breadmaker was the joint highest recommend. I had high hopes. My first basic loaf was fine..a little bit dense..but it was the first. Next loaf wholemeal..nothing special. Sweet loaf was nice. Pizza dough..great!Then disappointment after disappointment. Heavy..dense..sunken. I went for a crustier loaf..came out looking burnt. It's frustrating and costly when you wait 3hrs for a brick. I'm getting better results making bread by hand! A birthday present that didn't deliver!

Pan not asy to fit in
Nice looking machine & I wanted one with a front display. However I tried for an hour on & off to get the pan to fit in as per instructions that said put it at a slight angle & turn clockwise. My daughter came over & had a go but failed. A friend came round & also failed. I rang Lakelands No from the book & they were no help at all & said as I bought it from Amazon there was nothing they could do & didn't know if anyone else had had trouble. In the end I called my neighbour who has a breadmaker & he giggled for around 10 mins & after pushing it in very hard it fitted. I had a Hinari & Panasonic over the years & never had any problems with the pan. Obviously all this is because of the double paddle & this is the problem. I can get it in now with a giggle & hard push but this should be made clear in the instructions. Made a quick loaf from brown bread flour on the smallest setting & it is huge so I would imagine if a smaller amount of ingredients were used it might burn. The bread came out well but too sweet & salty for me so will cut these down next time. My old one never had this amount (a large loaf says 5 tables. sugar ! ) Will keep trying the other programs & hope they work well.

Cannot deviate from the pre-programmed options
This is the first time I've not bought a Panasonic bread maker. Big mistake.I make lots of bread from basic ingredients, but I also like to use a ready mix (usually Carr's or Wrights), for speed/convenience.Unfortunately, this bread maker does not allow you to adjust below 1kg, and all ready mix packs are 500g. As a family of two, the bigger loaf is too much for us... I wish the write up had been clearer.Slotting in the pan in is tight, fiddly and awkward. Not for anyone who has dexterity issues. The paddles stick in the cooked loaves, every single time, and I have to use the metal pick supplied with the machine. Definitely not something that happens to cooked loaves in the Panasonic machines. The off button, on the LED panel, does not switch the machine off, no matter how 'firmly' I press. Instead, I have to turn the whole machine off at the mains and wait 15 minutes to get the program reset to kick in.The three loaves I've made from scratch were both heavy and pale, not at all comparable to previous machines. My ready mix packs (bought from Lakeland) are unusable and now sit in the cupboard. As hubby says, I'm lumbered, and now I have to stick with it. I am perplexed by other reviews that give this machine five stars. If I were a novice bread maker I would be questioning myself... but I'm not. I can only say, I should have stuck with the brand I've always had and not been tempted by shiny and new. Expensive mistake.

Impressed first time bread machine owner!
Very pleased with the results so far! Made a few loaf types, and yes I have had some sink and under/over bake but I think is due to living in a High altitude and hot country with varying humidity.I chose this machine (having never owned one) based on reviews for other big named machines and Im very happy with:- the loaf size options, not having to use the machine too often for a family of 3.- kneading blades, Ive never had both stay in the loaf, only one sometimes and I don't think the 'holes' left by the blades are intruvise at all. (photo to show)If I could pick one fault for this machine it would be, that I would love an alarm when the final knead is over, so that before baking I could remove paddles and reshape before the final prove and bake. But honestly the bread shape and blade holes aren't really an issue anyway!

Good product
Have made some nice loaves in this item, you have to experiment with the ingredients, but the loaves have been especially good for toasting

Best bread maker out of the 5 we have owned
Best wholemeal loaves we've ever made, great texture, larger than any other loaves we had from other 'large' breadmakers. Excellent product! If we ever need another (hope not!!) would buy again.
