The fire sticks work really well. We just got back from a camping trip where my husband finally gave in and used half a stick of the fire starter. He was so pleased with how easily these sticks get the fire going that he continued to use them all week long.

I use very little of one stick to start most fires. If wood kindle is damp use more...simple. One box of these will last me a long time.

I came across these by accident a few years ago. Each stick is about 5 inches long, but you can break them in half and they work just as well. They light very easily, and will burn for a few minutes, which is plenty for lighting charcoal. Just make sure part of the stick is under the charcoal (it works best if you put it down first and put the charcoal on top, with a little piece sticking out for lighting). While using a chimney is faster and easier, these take up a lot less space. My one tip is that if you want to hurry things up, use a few pieces at different ends of the charcoal pile and it will get going faster.

Fired right up when I used an electric arc lighter on it. Will do the trick in a pinch for any emergency or camping situation. Seems a bit expensive for 12, but quality is excellent.

These are fantastic fire starters and work every time. I only put 4 stars as I find them a bit pricy at $18 for 12 sticks. I try to only use 2 per fire to save them and it's been enough so far.
