I ordered these kits for my grandchildren. I knew it was something they would enjoy doing, especially with me and PawPaw. My grandchildren are 3, 5 and 7 years old; the two oldest both attend school. My 5-year-old granddaughter attends a STEM school; while her brother attends a charter school. Each child had their own kit and my youngest grandson let his PawPaw share his kit. I worried they wouldn’t stay focused on the task at hand, and would want to go watch TV, play with the remote control cars, or my granddaughter would want to go change to play dress-up. My grandchildren have blended families. Mom and her fiancee have the two oldest for one week, they have their little brother (3 years) there. Dad and his girlfriend get them the next week, and they have a son & daughter together. The four do a remarkable job co-parenting, and I am grateful how mature they have all acted throughout everything. My daughter has insisted they not have screens, and wants the kids to enjoy their childhood, as children; both dad's have game systems at home but they only play around on them when the kids are in bed, or not home. While there are iPads in the homes, the kids do not have access to them. In my home, I buy a lot of educational games and toys; for holidays and birthdays, I get them clothing and educational toys and games, along with toys they enjoy: my granddaughter is very girly; her favorite things are playing dress-up, even has her own little child's clothing rack with beautiful princess dresses. The boys' love remote control cars, race tracks, books to help them learn to read and other learning games; there's also astronaut, policeman, fireman, and doctor dress-up outfits for the, There's also astronaut, doctor and other costumes. None of my grandchildren have iPads, game systems, and we monitor the time on TV; we prefer to have them play, whether with toys, play one of the many educational games they have, play outside, or do something like we were doing. This was our first time with any of the STEM kits. I opened one kit for myself, so I could put it together as I read each step aloud, which really helped both of them. Since I was doing each step with them, the couple of times they asked for my help, I would do the step over with “my kit,” so they could watch how it was done. We all had so much fun with the kits. My husband was just as excited as the kids; he enjoys anything mechanical, and has been waiting since we learned we would be grandparents of a time when he could teach our grandkids how to put things together. I highly recommend this or any of the STEM kits, definitely pay attention to the age ranges before ordering.

Not for 5 year olds to do reading and following instructions, makes several toys
This is a fun educational toy kit. Basically it is a motor that you make different types of suction toys (examples are bubble blower, vacuum sucker). It says it can be for ages of 5. I disagree with this because you have to be able to read and follow directions. I know some 5 year olds can, but I don’t think the average 5 year olds can. Because of this, I am removing 1 star. The motor is contained in a way that is safe. The different pieces are not hard to assemble and are sturdy enough for a few assemblies of each type of project.

Adult help needed to assemble
I ordered this motor play kit for my son who enjoys building things. The assembly instructions for this model are okay but what made it challenging was the thin plastic most of the parts are made of. There is no explanation of the science behind each experiment making it less valuable as an educational experience (although it does reinforce instruction following and persistence). My son had fun with this kit, however, the novelty will wear out quickly. Seems a little overpriced for what you get.

Horrible design and not worth buying
not well planned out. You will deal with air leaks as the plastic case is really only held on by rubber bands to act as fasteners, the fan blades fall of constantly as there is nothing to keep the fan attached to the motto. Over all it barely functions at all. No missing parts but all the parts are thin plastic and come with no replacement parts so its pretty much a one time use, I wouldn't recommend buying its so poorly designs its not even fun to build even for kids.

Great STEM kits for the classroom
I got this value pack of STEM kits for my son’s classroom, and they’ve been a huge success. Each kit comes with four motor-based projects, so the kids get hands-on experience building and experimenting instead of just playing with a toy once and forgetting it. The parts are sturdy, safe, and reusable, which makes them perfect for group activities and lessons. They’re a little more expensive than regular classroom giveaways, but the educational value and excitement they bring make them totally worth it.

Good group activity for teachers
The age range isn't suitable for a 5 year old in my opinion. They can play with it if an adult builds it for them but they will not understand the concept of what they are building and hand eye coordination was challenging for this activity. My 11 year old on the other hand, liked it but didn't like how the motor wasn't very powerful. Typical 11 year old boy. I do like this for several reasons though. It's a great learning tool for older kids and comes with 5 boxes of the 4 activity motor sets...not just 4 activities so it's great for teaching in a group setting and team building skills. While the materials aren't fabulous, it is in fact a great tool and if you did groups of children at least 7 or older, they would benefit from this toy. It's a great value for the money, a good learning tool, and does make a fun experiment.

Not bad, but probably not a repeat
The ages listed is 5+. Let's just say the almost 6 year old who loves to build big Legos sets on his own wasn't impressed. Know that this comes with 5 of the exact same thing, so you can make each item. The ball floater is pretty weak and the ball barely lifted off, but it did lift off, so there is that. 6 year old was not really interested in building more than the 1 item. It's also not really sturdy, so energetic kids isn't going to play with it for long
