Excellent: Now I want C# 10 Version
I really like these C# Nutshell books. I've had several over the years, all the recent (7/8/9) versions have been excellent, and with Microsoft making a lot of changes they are great reference books. As to "not a good book to learn" reviews - true but that's true for PHP, Java and other languages. The Nutshell series explain the syntax for people who are somewhat familiar but haven't seen the latest version - or especially for C# - have experience and know from reading articles online that there is something like xxx but haven't used it and aren't sure exactly how it works. That's where these books shine. I have yet to use nullable reference types only because I've been busy on some Java code at work but once I get back in C# I'll have to look up the new stuff.I have found the books to be well written and very useful. But it's like a SQL reference guide for a major database (MS, Oracle or one of the My SQL derivatives) - you know there is a function to (think of dates or something) but don't know the parameter order - if it was C# this is the book you'd reach for. But learning C# or SQL, never. That's not the audience. If you are coming from, say, Java, this book could be very useful because you are familiar with many similar, but implemented differently, constructs and need to know "how do they do that in C#?" Likewise LINQ, which is in no other language I know of (beans and Hibernate and such have nothing similar, let alone PHP) - so this can be a good reference, but overwhelming at first (try the MS docs for the basics, then come here for the details).Recommended. Very much. Now for C# 10 and all those changes. I've been following Hanselman but I hope the author brings out a book for version 10, due out 5-6 weeks from when I write this. I pre-ordered C# 9 in a nutshell that early, I wish I could do the same for 10 so this wish is not out of line.

Best C# book ever.
this book get's right to the point ; every page of the book is filled with useful information. If you are looking for a book to entertain you...this isn't it; but, if you want to learn the rules of C# this IS the book for you. I like the fact that it is based on console application, because all I am interested in is learning C#, not "real world applications" which I can learn on my own or from a book created for that purpose. If you just want to start programming with the minimum knowledge possible this book is overkill; you should just get one of those learn C# in a day books. or go watch a You tube video, but egnore the part where they try to explain what they are doing, because a lot of time they are just plain wrong, but their code is usually well written.

Thorough and up-to-date
Every few years I buy a big fat C# book so I can keep up with the language. Last time that book was Nagel's on C# 4.5, and before that Troelson. But those writers' C# 9.0 books aren't out yet, so Albahari gets the nod. At 1060 pages this "nutshell" is more a coconut than a pistachio, but it seems to have everything a practicing programmer needs today. The writing style is clear and to the point, as it must be to cover this much material.

Brilliant book. Every page is crammed with useful facts, although it reads like a novel.

If your not a scientist dont get this book
This book was not written for the average person. It's full of nothing but the C# terminology instead to instead of concentrating on the C# language itself and how to code. You will find it hard get through. There are better books out there!

written content is good book binding is not
This like many other technical books has so many pages that it should either be a hardback with the pages sown in, or split into multiple volumes so that the cheaper binding can be used. Laying the book on it's back to lay flat will break the binding. The price of the book so include better binding.
