Beads dont plumb up as usual
So I have a large humidor in my cigar case that has these types of beads in it. So when I first got these beads I knew they were going to be tiny but I put only a little bit into the water because I knew they were going to grow...but they didn't. So I added more...and more...and more like half the bag into a small little 12 oz bowl with distilled water and the beads barely grew. The beads did soak up some of the water but they were barely the size of the smallest pea out there. Not a great experience, I will look for a different brand.Just so you know, the bead once it is saturated should be the size of a large pea. Also it says don't submerge the beads.. so how are you supposed to hydrate them? I'm not going to sit there for hours spraying water on them, and my other beads had no problem being totally submerged.

Too much hassle
Not a fan at all. I tried switching from gel expanding beads to this and the gel beads blow these things away.First things first, both work. This product works fine. You have to lightly mist it though. If you saturate it, you now have standing moisture that isn't being regulated by the beads. You therefore way over-humidify things. So take it easy on how much water you add. If you turn the container upside down and liquid leaks out, you have too much and you're going to find your cigars at 80% humidify or more the next day. With that in mind, you have to add liquid 3-4 times more often compared to the same amount of gel beads. With the gel beads I'd have to add distilled water about once a month. Now it's every 6-7 days. The container I'm using is the same. I could probably get a container 4 times bigger than my old one (and would have to buy more of these beads to fill it), but then I'd have to give up a bunch of space.Like I said, it works if you do it right. But it's just not worth the hassle.

Works!
Simple, easy, and reliable. The RH level in my humidor averages 65% consistently, which is exactly the humidity I prefer.I’ve been using these beads for nearly 2 years now and they’re still working as great as the day I bought them.I only need to refill it with distilled water every few weeks.I do have an old school humidor that has a great seal, so I’m sure that helps maintain humidity.

Kind if disappointing
This is my second bag and they are crushed. Not as bad as the first one. They do not look as advertised. Some look like they are a translucent white and other a chalky white and there are cracked ones and dust. I was using this for my wineador for my cigars, but the humidity was 80%. I have multiple hydrometer inside and it and it does not lower it. I left it open and the humidity dropped to 60 and i closed with the beads inside and after 3 days it was back up to 80%.

Really wanted them to work, but they dont.
The idea is great and they are messy to deal with. I put them in some nylon, cloth bags to get the most surface area. Most of them came crushed. When you wet them (spritzing with a mister bottle with RO water) they absorb but they release too much. They have not been holding 70% for me. I've been dealing with spikes. I wanted to like these but they don't work in my Cooleridor. Ended up switching to those packets that keep the RH at a stable level.
