I'm a reading coach and I have seen several of the teachers I work with use the Interactive White Board version of Daily Word Ladders K-1 (phonics) book. I must say that teachers and students love this and the other books in the series. Students think that the activities in the books are games. What they don't realize is that they are learning the essential phonics generalizations that will lead them to become proficient readers. Fantastic resource for students (and teachers)!BTW - getting the program to work on your computer and Smartboard or Prometheum Board is not difficult - just follow the simple directions in the book.

I was really excited to see this new product that I could use on my Smart board. I have used Word Ladders for a long time and thought the graphics and interaction would be exciting for the students. I think the idea is great, but it is not a user friendly program. I am very comfortable with software and this was difficult to install. The book gives a sense of an easy software program. It took me almost 30 minutes to find the correct links, register with the company, update my Adobe and install the program. Then, they tell you to be sure to read the program directions. Well, let me tell you.... you need to do that. It's not a program that you can just figure it out in a few minutes by clicking the symbols. You will see what I mean if you use it. My final thoughts, I will not use it very much unless I have loads of time to do a lesson. I have ended up making my own master template on the smart board which does not take a lot of time. I just change the letters and the hints. It's too bad that Scholastic didn't go with an easier user friendly software program.

I love this series. Good practice for children for vocabulary practice. Can use these pages different ways..as a manipulative, practice, homework, or extra activity.

No more making copies unless I want to! I am planning on using this as an interactive center in my classroom. The words are great for this grade level and really show the students how to connect words through their word parts. A great buy!

It is an excellent vocabulary workbook !

Only dislike is that the CD does not work on Smartboards
