The optics are really very good.
Great for looking at rocks, insects, bits of plant etc. as you would expect. My 11y daughter was super chuffed with this and has used it continually since she got it. The adjustable binoculars make viewing easy and comfortable for all the different sizes that we are. Excellent overall quality. Very happy.

Excellent.
Very pleased with this stereoscope.I have bought this for an 8th birthday present for my Grandson, but I hadn't given it yet.I liked the fact it's a stereoscope, and for the price it's rare. It's easy to use and sturdy. The Geo Safari make is reliable and it is quality.

pretty good with some minor flaws
This is popular Chinese model of a kids microscope,to my surprising the optical system is quite well and provides nice stereo picture. In my sample, the LED torch stopped working in a week. The body is pure plastic, lenses and optical prisms seem to be a real glass which is cool. If you come accross an unfaulty sample, worth the price 100%

Excellent low power microscope.
I required a low power microscope. I composed a list of options to choose from. I then selected the GeoSafari Stereo Microscope. I am very pleased with my choice. It is easy to set up. It focuses very well and provides a clear view of the specimen being observed. If you require a low cost, low power microscope then I would recommend this scope.

Not just a toy!
It’s easy to overlook this stereo microscope because of what seems a high price. Currently, it’s selling at just under £75 which is quite punchy for what’s being sold as a toy. While I agree with the suggested age of 8+, there is no upper age limit. It arrives in a decent retail box with a polystyrene insert inside. The first thing you notice is that this is not a plastic microscope. The body is made of metal and I would guess its aluminium as it’s quite light. Now, I can see why the price is so high.In the box, you also get a pair of 20x eye lenses, some rock samples and some instructions. The extra lenses complement the set already fitted to the microscope which are 10x magnification. The rock samples are interesting to look at and get you started straight out of the box. The only thing missing is some slides even though the slide clamps are there. The quality is surprisingly good and looks really well-made. The up/down mechanism works smoothly allowing you to get a decent focus on the sample. The light source works well after you fit a couple of AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment in the base of the unit. While it may not be up to professional standards, it offers a good grounding for adults as well as kids. I’ve enjoyed using it a lot!Overall, not just a toy! I hope that helps.

Nice and sturdy microscope for age 8+
A nice and sturdy microscope for 8 years plus. The GeoSafari Stereoscope introduces children to a real scientific tool. There are dual eyepieces for 3D viewing. It also includes 12 rock samples (obsidian, granite, pyrite ore, milky quartz, tufa, gneiss, muscovite, marble, graphite, selenite scoria, limestone), and has 10x and 20x magnification eyepieces. It does require 2 AA batteries (not included) and is very simple to set up and use. It comes with a small manual detailing how to install the batteries, how to use the microscope and some information on the rock samples in the box. I am pleased with this product and I am happy to recommend.

Brilliant and easy to use microscope
This microscope is brilliant. It is really well made and robust. It is easy to use and works well. The wheels are really smooth on both sides and the magnification pieces are good. It comes with a x10 and x20. I particularly like that it has two eyepieces rather than one which makes it easier to use. It comes with some rock samples so you can start using it as soon as it’s out of the box. This is suitable for older kids and adults alike. Definitely recommended.

From a scientist
First off, I am a retired scientist owning several microscopes. I bought this for myself (blush) as it looked interesting and comes with rocks. I was also influenced by the fact that it is battery operated and easily portable. It is sold as a toy for children, however it is perfect for taking out in the field. It is small, sturdy and seems to have excellent optics (a big surprise!) for an inexpensive microscope. I added a reflector in the well below the stage, giving me illumination from below as well as from above (at the same time, but useful for transparent specimens). I merely cannibalized an old incandescent flashlight which gave me a reflector as well as a transparent stage for lighting from below. For my purposes, this microscope, this little (TOY!) microscope, is a terrific buy and can't be beat! Children will love it. I do, and I am at 84 years old, still a child at heart. The only thing I miss is a fine focus control, but for the price this is a minor criticism. Another plus I have to mention: the eyepieces are standard size, which means you can useother eyepieces or a Barlow lens for greater magnification. Also, you can add to one side a dedicated microscope camera or even a single lens reflex camera with the proper adapter, but the latter, I guess, is overkill.

returned for full refund, poor quality,
for a hundred bucks, I was expecting a semi quality instrument, lenses loose in barrels, cheap plastic construction, could not focus properly, appears this unit already returned once, SOY amazon, returned for refund, trying to appear like quality instrument but junk
