Not enough of a great thing
Having tried to study Greek on and off for years, I found that my reading ability was far greater than my speaking and listening ability. I would have to think too long to construct simple sentences, and had a hard time getting the grammar to work in my brain. This method is phemonenal - it has greatly improved my understanding of the spoken word in Greek. I truly believe that no teaching resource compares. This method is the best.A huge advantage is that I can study while driving, I don't have to block out time in my schedule to sit down with a book. Also, even tho I am a visual learner in most subjects, language is primarily spoken and I have come to the conclusion (during this course) that it is best learned when primarily heard and spoken rather than read. Additionally, I don't have to tire a tutor with repetition - I can just replay parts I have trouble with. However, this course is simply not long enough - and leaves out several very important things. For instance, it gives almost no instruction in the second person familiar (informal you), no instruction in the genetive case (used for possessives), and no instruction in conjugating the rather large percentage of verbs that end in "omai" (transliterated, of course).Greek is a complex language, and the number of hours of instruction needed to get to a "Level 1" competence is simply more than say, French or Spanish, therefore the publisher should make the course at least 40 or 50 hours long, instead of their usual 30.Having said that, I enthusiastically recommend this course - it's not perfect, but as far as I know it is the best thing available - anywhere.

Fastest home language learning
I have tried a wide variety of self teaching programs for multiple languages, such as the "Teach Yourself" series, "For Dummies", Living Language, Instant Immersion, and Rosetta Stone as well as college classes. While all these systems are quite well implemented, Pimsleur has time and again been the fastest path to functional proficiency. It's convenient in being pure audio because you can use it while commuting or performing other tasks. The program purposely does not get into depth teaching grammar or large vocabulary. You are expected to pick these up by inference and context. This lets you learn faster, and without an incorrect accent. The downside is that your education will not be as thorough. I highly recommend using Pimsleur to get 'up and running' in the language and then augmenting with a text that specifically addresses grammar or formal education. The Greek program has made it quite easy for me to settle into living here in Crete.

The ONLY Way to learn Greek
I have been studying foreign languages for most of my life, have studied over 20 different languages, speak 5 fluently, have lived abroad, and have a Master's degree from Middlebury's language school. If you are trying to learn a language on your own, this is the ONLY way to go. My aunt (who I bought the CD's for in Spanish) and I agree, it is as if you are being brainwashed with a new language. You play the CD's, and can be occupied with something else at the same time, and you cannot help but remember what they teach you. I listen to them on my way to work, while I cook and clean, and while I work out at the gym. I have used Pimsleur's Greek level 1, Arabic Basic and Turkish Basic. Just ordered Greek level II. I will most certainly not stop here and will very likely buy Pimsleur programs for every language they make. You can't go wrong. Do not waste your time with any other language program out there. This is the only way to go. Pimsleur has changed my life now that I no longer have the time to pour over vocabulary flashcards and grammar books as I used to, this allows me to increase my knowledge of foreign languages like never before. Thank you Pimsleur!!!! Would love to see a level III come out for Greek as well!!!!

Greek for Travelers
This course (I don't pretend to have gotten all the way through it) has great pronunciation ( my ex is Greek, so I know.) It seems to focus on the young traveler looking for a good time. If you're a middle-aged woman looking for a conversation about where to find comfortable pants, you'll have to supplement.Really, though, Pimsleur is the apex.

The Greek Language CDs
Pimsleur has developed a fascinating method for teaching a language to the language-learning-handicapped individual. I feel that I will really get somewhere in my studies now that I am working with the Pimsleur method. Now I will learn Greek, and other languages as well, using Pimsleur as my primary teacher.

Excellent Language Learning
My whole family loves this set of CDs to learn Greek. They keep reviewing the learned material and make you repeat it in a new fresh way so that you have to think about what you're saying not just repeating the same phrase over and over. They integrate new material at a good pace. We put these in when we're driving sometimes as background noise to just expose us to the language, and other times actively listen and reply. We've learned so much Greek thanks to this set, and I'm now a fan of the Pimslear language learning process!

Great way to refresh Greek language
I grew up in a household where Greek was spoken. Since I've gotten away from speaking Greek, I wanted a refresher for when I travel to Greece. This CD is not only helping me remember, but expanding my vocabulary and helping me relearn proper grammer. The only criticism, the Greek is formal Greek. The speakers on the CD seem to be on familiar terms. They should integrate familiar Greek in their dialogue.

very worth the money
I passed my Ukrainian exam by using the pimsleur method. Very effective for tourist but will require further practice to speak fluently

Very good
This is excellent, provided one is American. It is a very good course but, as I come from England, it would be nice to learn how to say "I'm English" as well as practising continually "I'm American". I'm amazed that the authors do not have enough imagination to realise that it could be also used by British people. One learns how to talk about dollars - how about also learning how to talk about pounds in Greek? Hence only 4 stars.Otherwise it is an excellent course.

Another good one from Pimsleur
Pimsleur is really the best way to learn the beginnings of any language. I have done several courses of theirs and this one is just as good.
