And this book doesn’t just need to be used during Session 0 or your planning stage. Have the heroes found a magic item in the lich’s lair? Bust this book out and build the magic item together! Your adventurers are arriving in a new land? Time to look up the Five Factions exercise to populate this new country with giver unique organizations with their own ambitions and goals! Make sure to do the exercises with another person or group of people! Use the prompts and ideas of other people to give yourself an extremely unique and compelling fictional world! This book will appear for EVERY ttrpg campaign I run from now on (and may very well make more than one appearance depending on if we need to build up a new aspect of the world).

Perfection!
Woah. I wish I had his Ultimate Amazon Review Guide.I'm new to DMing. But not new to world building. I've always had ideas sprout up in little colorful flairs. Then I would have then sit in a notebook with nowhere for them to go. This book, it gives you the oomph to expand on your ideas. It has consistently gotten me out of ruts. And the best part is you can use the same prompts in the book and get different results, because your story and your world is unique. This guide is simply that. A guide. Yet it brings out so much flavor in your stories you wish you knew was there from the beginning. Can't recommend enough. Check out his other books. And his podcasts if you get a chance. The star wars campaign stands as my favorite piece of star wars content in existence.

James Has Done it Again!
Just finished absolutely devouring this book in less than a week! Been a fan of James' writing since even before I started listening to his podcasts and both are a consistent delight. I've started dipping my toe into the waters of running RPGs recently and I will most definitely be using this book as a tool to help me more confidently do so. Absolutely love that it's broken down by genre so it's easy to reference for your campaign style of choice, and the various exercises in each chapter have highlighted a lot of things I haven't even thought of. Highly recommend for current and aspiring GMs, as well as anyone who just loves thinking up worlds for fun and profit. And if you're hungry for more, I definitely recommend checking out James' One Shot and Campaign podcasts to see his worldbuilding in action!

Worldbuilding 101: a Must Read!
For ttrpg players interested in doing ANY amount of world-building for their games, James D'Amato's The Ultimate RPG Game Master's Worldbuilding Guide is a must read. You can easily pick up the book and be world building in minutes in a simple way that produces awesome, fun results for your group and game. Even if you've already done a lot of world building there are exercises in the book that can help flesh out even more of your world and setting. James brings a tremendous amount of experience and wisdom doing world building, and if you listen to Campaign: Skyjacks alone you'll see what kind of a detailed, fully fleshed out world with a tremendous amount of lore is possible to make. Plus I'd like to add, its easy to read and follow and really fun to use!!

Consistently Excellent
I am a huge fan of all or James' books in the Ultimate RPG line. He consistently delights and surprises with a mix of thoughtful questions and helpful tables. Each of the books so far have influenced the way I run games at the table and on streams, some have impacted the way I design games. The Worldbuilding Guide is helping me rethink all of my games in development and a few already in print to fill in holes, create cohesion, and still leave space for GMs to play in at the table. Thank you James!

Not worth it. Just a bunch of lists with no actual advice.
Tbh I thought that I could do this task on my own. This book proved it. I'm afraid that it just looks like a series of lists, not even rollable tables which would have been more fun. Save your money and get something else.I appreciate someone has gone to lengths to create this. I just don't see any functional use for it when I'm worldbuilding.Sorry, two stars (One extra for the authors efforts).
