high-quality product with clear instructions, just takes a bit of work to install
I saw a lot of positive reviews of this steering wheel cover and I thought maybe people rated it highly because of the relatively low price--that you get a lot for your money. What I found was that in fact the quality is high, period. I am very impressed by the look, feel, and manufacturing of the leather. The holes punched along the edges to sew through are precise and the stitching that joins the two ends together to form a loop is clean and strong. I selected size M for the wheel of my 2015 Subaru Forester Premium, based on the sizing information from the Wheelskins site. It fits well, though it was VERY tight to get it stretched around the rim of the steering wheel. I really wasn't sure it was going to fit at first, but once I got it on the tight fit makes it look closer to factory and feel great. I was optimistic about how long it would take to install, and it ended up taking a little over 2.5 hours. I used a loop stitch and it worked well, though it was difficult to pull each stitch tight and keep enough tension on the thread as I did the next stitch. You have to pull very hard on the thread to get the inside edges to meet, and I wish I had gotten mine just a little tighter. It comes with clear instructions, two needles, and enough thread with each to do the whole wheel using a loop stitch. The thread is strong and smooth. It doesn't cut into your fingers too badly and it did not break on me. The leather did not tear or deform as I pulled the stitches tight, either. I really like the end result. The wheel feels amazingly better than before (no leather on the original wheel). This cover gives a slight padding without being squishy, and it feels great. I worked hard to avoid gapping around the spokes, and in the end gapping was minimal, though that an expected issue with a cover like this that is not cut out to fit exactly on one particular model of car. I had a Wheelskins cover on my last car, which I installed and used, took off, and then installed again. As I recall the leather on that was slightly thicker and the seams bulkier. YMMV, but if anything I like this one a little better. That had plastic reinforcement strips along the rows of holes for the thread and this one does not, but I had no trouble with tearing or stretched holes on this one. If you are realistic about how much time and effort is needed for installation and the kinds of results you can expect, I don't think you will find a better quality wheel cover of this type. I am very impressed.

So far it seems nicer than the BMLEI brand I bought a couple of years ago.
I gave it one star for ease of installation, not because that's a problem with the Aully cover, it's because all stitch-on covers, no matter who makes them, will be difficult to install correctly. Even though I've done a stitch-on cover twice before it still took me 3 hours. However, once installed the cover will not eventually slide around like those crappy slip-on covers, these stitch-on covers will look as if your steering wheel came with it from the factory! Yes, it is work, it takes patience, sometimes you screw up and have to redo a hole or two, but if you take your time you will love the finished result. I'm not a seamstress, and I have two left thumbs, if I can do it anyone can do it. One word of importance in the installation. When you get to the last thing, you have to push the needle under some threading to get it close to the thread left dangling when you started so you can tie these together, the problem is these needles are straight and the steering wheel is curved, so trying to get a needle to do that is a huge pain, in fact, darn near impossible. So what I did was take a pair of needle nose pliers, and I bent the first 1/8th of an inch just a little, then went back behind that bend and bent it again more than the first one, in other words, I made a curved needle, once I did that it was easy. When you tie the two ends to finish I tied a double knot, cut the ends as close as you can, if you have some ends showing but can't cut it any closer, take a lighter and just quickly burn the ends, just the ends, not the stitching, and do it quickly not prolonged, it should melt the thread just enough to lock it in so it can't come undone. The other tough part is the spokes in the steering wheel, I can't explain in words how to do it, there should be videos on how to do that. This cover is a bit thicker than the BMLEI stitch-on cover, the reason I didn't go back to the BMLEI cover was that I put one on my truck that sits outside all the time, that cover about 8 months after installing the black outer coating started coming off, now just over a year later it's sort of bad. The second BMLEI cover I put on my 2nd car that sits in the garage is fine, so the sun isn't good for the BMLEI cover. This Aully cover is going on my third car, it also sits in the garage so I probably won't have any idea as to how the sun will affect it, which is fine because I really don't want to install another one! LOL! If you follow the size chart you will get a perfect fit. It will fit on tight, and that's a good thing, not a bad thing. The cover is made to stretch so don't worry about ripping on you, it won't. The Amazon description says it's made of leather, I'm not a leather man so I'm not sure if it's leather or not, it doesn't say leather on the packaging, but neither did the BMLEI even though it's described as leather on Amazon but I don't think it was. The Aully does provide 3 needles and 3 sets of string, all you need is one needle and one set of string, the rest is in case you screw up and accidentally break the string or needle. I was pully pretty hard on the string to keep the stitching tight and it did not break, nor did I break any needles, not even the one I bent into a curve. Keep those strings and needles, and keep the curved one that you will need to make at the end. It feels like real leather, it's comfortable and soft like leather would be. I gave it 5 stars despite the tough install, but that's not a problem with the Aully cover, that's just the way stitch-on covers are, and since most people buying these are not experts at doing this it is a pain to install, just know that before you buy and then complain about it. like I said once it's on that cover is not going to ever move and slip around on you like the slip-on covers will do, which can become a driving hazard if you're trying to make an emergency turn and the cover slides on the steering wheel, not good. If later that cover material starts to fall apart like the BMLEI cover did on one of my vehicles, I will come back and respond to that problem.

Great product, good price, poor customer service
I am taking a star off not for the product, but for the customer service. I attempted to get an answer to my question before purchase as to which product I should order and even asked after the purchase, but after several attempts of "non answer" responses I received I gave up. The issue that I was having before ordering is that my steering wheel was 3.75 in which is an in between size from their chart and was simply asking do I buy bigger or smaller. Never got an answer. I took a chance and purchased bigger. When I tried to explain after the purchase about their chart deficiency they never properly replied. The good. The product is great, looks great, easy to install although a bit laborious, but worth it, feels great, makes the steering wheel look like new and great leather quality and thickness. Will do it again.

Great product. 20k miles later and it still looks new
Love this product. It's a pain in the a$$ to install but if done correctly it looks factor. Had this on my truck now for a year and would absolutely put it on another vehicle. I was able to tuck the front under the plastic on the steering wheel to make it Look more factory. Great option if you have a stearing wheel heater.

Quality product at a great price!
Installed the cover on a 2012 Mustang GT that has the basic steering wheel (not leather). The instructions were clear (and in proper English), the materials (leather, string and needle) were all excellent quality. Per another review, I used a small hook (in my case, a spring hook tool) to pull the stitches tight after 6 to 7 stitches and a clamp (long jaw vice grips with rubber hose over the jaws) to hold the stitching after it had been pulled tight before moving on to the next 6 to 7 stitches. I did the "dummy" stitches around the spokes on the wheel tightening them enough so they tucked under themselves slightly and it looks cool as heck. The fitment was spot on, probably because I used a flexible fabric tape measure to get precise dimensions, especially for the rim circumference. I did NOT find it necessary to wax the tread or to widen the pre-punched holes as per some of the other reviews. If you have soft hands, you may want to use a thimble to push the needle through but I didn't find it necessary. Total time was about 75 minutes to complete, including a 10 minute break for my eyes. Just take your time and pay attention and you'll get a better result than you thought you could. Other hints: 1) always stitch at the bottom of the wheel, turning the wheel as you progress to continue stitching from the bottom (much easier to see what you're doing) 2) start your stitching at the top of the wheel (with the wheel turned 180 degrees so it's at the bottom per hint 1) and progress around clockwise if you're right handed or counter clockwise if you're left handed.

Worth the time and money
I had concerns about the quality based on the price, but was pleasantly surprised upon receipt. It includes three generous lengths of thread plus three needles, so there should be enough for any style stitching you want to do. I chose a baseball stitch for the looks and durability, plus it matched the original stitching. I tied two lengths of thread together to ensure I had enough, with plenty left over. I’m very handy, but this was my first attempt to use a stitch on wheel cover, and the first time utilizing a baseball stitch on any project. It took considerably more time than I planned, but with patience and a little attention to detail, it turned out just fine. Only real gripe I have is that the needles are straight. If I decide to do this again, I will acquire curved needles or curve the included needles.

Very nice product, excellent quality and fast shipping
I have a 2006 Ford F150 Lariat that has had a cracked and peeling leather steering wheel that has bothered me since I bought it. The rest of the leather interior is very clean and this made the truck look ratty and old. I hate when people put the cheesy wal-mart steering wheel covers over leather steering wheels. If people think it is protecting them it actually tears them up. Anyway, I have never sewn anything like this but I am a big time DIY'er. I looked into steering wheel restoration and it was close to $400! I thought for $20 bucks I will give this a try and I really wanted genuine leather. Well I was not disappointed with the quality, fit, or feel of this product. I ordered a size L and it fit my wheel perfectly. The ends butt up to each other perfectly almost seamlessly. The color is near perfect match for my tan Lariat interior as well. It took me about an hour and the stitching doesn't look factory but it looks a heck of alot better than it did and the slightly beefier feel of the increased diameter of the wheel is a nice touch to my lifted 4x4. Feels a bit more confident grabbing onto a thicker wheel. Very happy with this purchase and highly recommend. Can't say about longevity and wear since I just put it on but I expect it to last.

Made my old steering wheel look almost new!
I bought this cover about 5 months ago, for my 2010 F150. I don't usually review anything i buy, but i could tell when i bought this, it was special. I wanted to wait a little while to review this product to see how well it held up. I am very impressed by this cover! Installation: Installation was not difficult, but a little tedious. I, however, am a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to this kind of stuff, so i re did my cover three times. I re did it three times only because of mistakes i made when installing it though. Tips to make sure installation goes smoothly: 1. Make sure the seam is directly in the middle bottom of the steering wheel. 2. Make sure that if your steering wheel had any damage, any loose bits of material are cut off or tucked in. If you don't do this, there will be bumps under the cover. That drove me crazy. Aside from that, i threaded about 1/6 of the wheel (starting at the bottom middle of the wheel, where i put the seam) , and then pulled the thread tight. I made sure i left about 6 inches of thread at the bottom center, to tie off later. Repeated, working my way around the wheel) until entire wheel is covered. I used some needle nose pliers to pull the thread extra tight, but be careful doing this so you don't break the thread. Once i arrived back at the bottom middle, i pulled both sides of the thread tight, and tied the two ends together with like 5 knots. I cut off the excess thread after i was sure i has enough knots. I used the back side of the threading tool (the blunt needle included) to tuck the knotted thread into the inside of the cover. Five months later, the cover shows no wear. It greatly improved the feel of the steering wheel, and I'd recommend it to anyone!
