I have been using this product for several years, and I love it. It is a one-step cleanser that cleans and tones the face, without requiring any kind of rinsing, so it saves time. Immediately after using, you may feel a somewhat oily residue; give it about 2 minutes and that feeling disappears as any residual product has soaked into the skin leaving a clean feel with a natural, light and refreshing scent. This product is all that you will need if you are cleaning a makeup free face; however, if you are using makeup, you will have to use more product to remove all the makeup, and this is not an inexpensive product. When I'm wearing makeup, I usually use Pond's or Jergen's facial cleansing creme to initially cleanse my face. This leaves an oily residue but is the best for any type of makeup removal, even HD makeup and hard to remove eye makeup, and is very gentle to the skin. I then use the Clarins One-step Facial Cleanser on a round cotton pad, and go over my entire face and eyes, to remove the oily residue from the cleansing creme, and to tone my face. If I have not used any makeup on the weekends, I only use the Clarins one-step cleanser.

I ordered this facial cleanser because of the high reviews. I was initially put off by the amount of oil in the product. The bottle itself comes with a layer of oil floating at the top as seen in the photo. The clear or white part of the photo is actually oil. You shake the bottle well before using it. The cover is a screw on type which is a little bit inconvenient. I would have preferred the type you can press down on one end to flip up the opening but the manufacturer probably went this route because it would be less apt to leak during shipping. (It leaked a little bit anyway.) That said, this is my experience with Clarins One Step Facial Cleanser. 1. The cleanser does deep clean better than other varieties that have soap in them. The oil actually helps to dissolve dirt and makeup better while moisturizing at the same time. The fact it did the job well actually surprised me, although it didn't fully cleanse the more stubborn pores in my nose as well as I had hoped, even over a period of 2-3 weeks. 2. Cleaning with this product is faster and less damaging to my dry skin. 3. The cleaner actually rinses off pretty well without having to use another cleanser to wash off the oil. I don't like my face to feel greasy and found if I rinse well after use it actually leaves my skin feeling moisturized but not oily. I don't really have to moisturize after using this if I don't want to. 4, The citrus smell is pleasant but faint. 5. I didn't experience sensitivity to the product like some of the other users despite my sometimes sensitive skin. This cleanser didn't make my skin react negatively. 6. My skin was softer after cleansing with Clarins. My husband noticed the difference and even said, "Oh wow!" when he touched my face. Being that he normally doesn't notice things like that it is a huge statement. :-)

I never leave for reviews, but this stuff is magic in a bottle so I have to review! It makes my skin so incredibly soft. It’s like baby skin. I don’t even use it as a makeup remover. I use it as like a toner. It is so incredibly amazing! So worth the money!

What I like is if I’m out of town or on busy schedule I can clean my face with no harsh chemicals on my face. It’s a great product to use and removes makeup and dirt after being outside for a couple of hours.

This cleaner has the most stinky smell of any skin care product I have used. It is dreadful. It also does not dissipate so you continue to smell until you wash very thoroughly with another cleaner. The consistency is also very thick and unpleasant. Try anything else instead!

Clairns is a FANTASTIC brand that I have been using for years now. I bought this by accident and thought I would try it anyway. It is very odd - I know it says no rinse - which I think is really weird. My face was oily, like it was not clean.... then after about 5-10 mint it was not oily, but more dry. I felt like it was doubled up when I added my moisturizer and was almost too much stuff on my skin. It was weird and my face was just not the texture that I liked. It might work for some, but I'd rather do the other steps. I returned this and got my regular Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser.

I bought this for my cousin’s wife’s birthday because she loves Clarins products, and she was absolutely delighted with it.
