I use this a motorcycle helmet lock. I loop it through my facemask and strap it to my passenger peg. Works great! Its not going to prevent anyone with a small bolt cutter but will definitely stop someone with bare hands trying to snatch my Helmet. As for its main purpose for a gun lock my guess is it would definitely do the job. Not the highest quality but will get it done!

As advertised, good lock to slow down unauthorized users.

Not much to say other than the fact that this is a must have if you're trying to add an extra layer of security to your firearms from unwanted users. It's also required by CA law for transport. They work and are relatively low cost enough that it's worth having one for every firearm you own. Has a protective sleeve on the cable that keeps it from marring/damaging your guns.

I use this as one of 3 levels of locks on my revolvers and they work well. keys are a little tough to turn to unlock but that is better than the opposite problem. I would bet money these locks are easy to pick as well if someone really want to, this is why I don't rely on just one lock per gun I use three.

Honestly haven't really used this to lock up my rifle much, but it was a great value and I needed one to purchase a used rifle that didn't have one included (damn California laws). My rifle is in my gun safe with others, but didn't want to go thru the hassle of proving I had a safe at home so just brought this in with a receipt and was good to go! Seems decent quality (equal to most other locks that come standard from factory). For the price, no complaints. Just a basic cheap lock that hits the standard for CA DOJ approval.

I have problems with people opening my chain link fence gate and not closing it....thus my 2 dogs get out without my knowledge. I have used combination or let locks that go thru the raisable latch but someone can still lift the ground bar and push the gate open. I had used a long bike lock cable in the past but am trying this short cable lock and it looks like a good solution. Yes, as others have said the keys for this lock are tiny but for my purpose that should not matter. I like that it's short enough that even if the ground bar is pulled up the gate can't be opened far enough for the dogs to get out.

Last fall I finally ponied up the money for a good deer hunting rifle. I travel a couple hours to where I hunt, and use the locks when transporting my rifles. The one that comes with the rifle, the bright yellow ones (here in NYS anyway) never had the proper length or flexibility to fit through the ejection port on the open bolt. I couldn't get it to loop upwards, out of the port, without a pair of plyers, and it would knock around in there as I tried. I didn't like the idea of that metal tip banging or scratching into precision components. I bought this lock to remedy that situation. It's been a major improvement. This lock is both longer and more flexible, yet it doesn't seem more flimsy. Now I can thred the lock in and out without pushing it into the internals. The original lock may or may not have been a huge deal, but a few bucks is a good investment for piece of mind on something that costs a lot of bucks.

Works great for my application. Needed a way to lock the pins on my adjustable hitch and this fit the bill nicely. Had to ever so slightly enlarge the holes in the pins but then it worked perfect. Would have been a little better without the plastic coating on the cable as it want to shred during install and removal. Other than that it's very nice and easy to lock and unlock too.
