Good derailure, very interesting design.
This was an inexpensive Shimano Alvio class derailure system that I bought for my old Rans Nimbus long wheelbase recumbent. The freewheel is a Shimano 7 speed mega and I also changed out the shifter from a Revoshift to a Shimano trigger shifter. What surprised me was how close the derailure rides next to the wheel spokes. It never touched but I had to tie the cable tail back so I wouldn't touch the spokes. It shifts very well especially after changing out the old chain to a KMC 8 speed.

Easy change
Derailed sent was in good condition. Able to replace Shimano 105 short cage on old Giant Defy to accommodate larger cassette. Seems to work very well

High Quality..
I felt a little bit wobbling, doubted and ordered another product to replace it. But, it has worked about 3750 miles very accurately, and it seems that it's going to work a lot.

Works great in the 9 speed application
Always reliably hits the gear.

Very nice
This is obviously way overkill for the cheap application I had for it. I was just replacing an old shimano flat face. This shifts like a dream. So smooth.

Works on 10-speed Shimano 105 road bike
Being older and bigger guy I need to have a granny gear for climbing the 7-9% grades in western New Mexico. After talking with a mechanic from the Trek SuperStore in Albuquerque he said that this would allow me to run a 11-36t 10-speed cassette on my Bianchi road bike using Shimano 105 shifters. Even though it is labeled as 9-speed, it works well with the 10-speed set up. The only major issue was dialing in the B screw on the back to get a gap so that gears don't touch the freewheels of the derailleur.

Check the cable indexing on your shifter for compatibility
Shimano's mid tier drive train offerings are as slick shifting and durably well made as 99% of the cycling population will ever require. That said, the cable pull ratio isn't compatible with my shifter. Had to buy the M591 9sp derailleur.

Good for on road
After a few months of constantly adjusting, removing/reinstalling it, even replaced the cable, I pretty much gave up on it being serviceable on the rough mtn bike trails. No issues on road and smooth trails but bumps wreck havoc. Have had the chain come off, it skips, pretty sure it hits into the gears - its so compact and too close. I plan to replace it soon.
