Great set of knives
This is the second time I have bought Kyocera ceramic knives and I highly recommend them. After the success I have had my parents bought a set and my brother bought himself a set. They are exceptionally sharp, but be aware that they are quite brittle and you should not use them for anything that twists the blade or might chip the blade (such as cutting cheese or cutting meat off the bone). A friend tried to open a can with the knife and the blade shattered (of course!), so be aware of what you are cutting! For cutting vegetables these knives give you amazing cuts. I primarily use the chef's knife, and I use the serrated knife for tomatoes (its amazing how thin it will slice). I don't use the paring knife very often.

Incredibly Sharp Knives from an Incredibly Gracious Company
The knives are every bit as good as every five star review states. They are also brittle. It's my job to do the dishes and clean up after meals. I used these knives several times and was pleased by, but scared of, of their sharpness. I dropped the paring knife on our tile countertop and the blade broken if half. Only a few inch drop, but it broke. My fault, clearly. The packaging was still in the waste can and I read lifetime guarantee. There were no exceptions listed. So I went to the Kyocera website and found a warranty return form which I filled out, explaining how I broke the knife. I filled it out and packed it with the knife and sent it off to California...figuring I only had a few dollars in postage to use. I never got a confirming email or call so after two weeks I wrote it off to bad experience and planned to write a three star review. Yesterday, a large unmarked package was delivered by UPS. Large! As in 21"x11"x10". Nestled inside countless pieces of brown wrapping paper was a perfect, new-in-package paring knife. I was so pleased with how a large company handled a stupid mistake by a 75 year old customer. BUY THESE KNIVES.

Disappointed in customer service
I bought several sets of these as gifts and they started out as a great knife. As you can see, the largest one broke (quite easily) and upon trying to replace it (since it's under warranty), the company has so many "steps" in place before they'll replace it, I'm not even bothering to send it back. Unfortunately, their customer service is not like Amazon's at all. After multiple emails back and forth with the company (not Amazon customer service), I'm required to box up the broken knife and ship back to them before they'll replace it...such a hassle. You can clearly tell from the photo that it's broken, so why are they requiring ME to do additional things to replace THEIR poorly made knife? I'm extremely disappointed in the long term quality of this product as well as their customer service. This was not a cheaply priced set to begin with and for it to break as easily as it did, I would not recommend purchasing from this company. Save your money.

Good But Breaks Easily
I really like these knives. They are razor sharp. Very easy to clean. A piece snapped off the chef’s knife when cutting a sourdough bread loaf. I think that anything ceramic is going to break easily or under pressure. Just be careful with them!

Excellent Ceramic Blades
I am not new to ceramic knives. I have purchased another brand of ceramics before so I knew somewhat what to expect when the Kyocera set arrived. Compared to another no-name brand, I felt the Kyocera set had some advantages. This set quickly bites into tomatoes, peaches, fruits with zero slippage along the sharp edge. The blade has no hesitation cutting into soft fruits and veggies making paper thin slices super easy to do. My other set of ceramic blades are thicker on the backend of the blade much like stainless steel knives. But the Kyocera set measures the same uniform thickness on the sharp and dull edges. Why is this important? It makes cutting those paper thin tomato slices easy because it removes the ambiguity of whether I am holding the blade at the precise angle to cut even slices. At first, this uniform thickness makes them look like lesser quality than my other set but in actual performance, they worked better. The set also comes with a serrated blade for when you need that kind of application. The only con are the ergonomics of the handles and because the Kyocera set doesn't include sheaths to protect the knives. I felt, if less expensive sets include sheaths, then the Kyocera should also. The handles don't feel firm in the hand like other ceramics so that's a downer. But nevertheless, they do perform extremely well. I do wish they came in all black or gun metal gray. I don't get why ceramics come in fruity colorful colors. But that's just my subjective feeling about them. On the plus side, Kyocera offers a life-time sharpening service included with the set. I haven't used their service yet because I just bought them but if they stand true to their promise, I would think Kyocera blades provide a good value. But having a second set of these knives would make sense so while one set is back at Kyocera being serviced, I would have another set to keep using in the kitchen. One tip I would like to pass on. If I had to buy again, I would still buy Kyocera. However, I would pick a set with only longer knives. The smaller knives aren't as useful and don't get used often. So it's wasteful if you think about it. You don't want to use ceramic blades on ceramic plates so the smaller blades aren't very useful for the dinner table either. Ceramic blades should only be used on wood cutting board to prevent them from chipping. I use a bamboo cutting board because of their natural antibacterial properties.

Great Knives
These knives slice through meat, fruit and vegetables with ease. I love the small serrated knife for slicing tomatoes. They also chop brilliantly! Plus they hold their sharp edge forever it seems. I have many expensive metal knives but now I reach for these ceramic knives more often than not. Great value, great product.

The knifes cracked broke in multiple places in about 2 months since purchase. There was hardly any heavy use. These were washed in top tray in the Dishwasher and the Finish products were used. Recommend not to buy. What is the point of being sharp and randomly break. Both the 6 & 5 inch knives have broken and I had to throw them away. Expensive and the effort and time to send for returns was just not worth my time. Poor product or maybe the maintenance recommendations given are wrong. Now the 3 inch knives is just handwashed (these are sharp and need to be careful) and lets see how long this lasts before breaking away. I am now looking for a new set of knives again !!
