Strong suction
My old Foodsaver vacuum sealer was wearing out and so we bought this Anova brand to replace it. (I have had great results with 2 Anova immersion circulators and so I have confidence in Anova.) This unit is a little bulkier than the unit I am replacing, but seems to have way more suction power. I also like that it always creates a double seal, whereas I used to have to seal, reposition the bag, and then seal again. For some reason this unit takes longer to seal a bag than my old unit so it’s probably a wash in terms of the time to make a double seal, but finished seals on this are always parallel to one another. No guessing. Also according to one review the lengthy seal helps eliminate the problems associated with moisture getting into the seal. I like the included bag cutter for convenience and consistently straight cuts. I have tried the “moist” setting but can’t say that it was really much better or different than the “dry” setting, but I don’t have a lot of experience yet. Also, I used the pulse function once, and it seemed to be more gentle in squeezing the contents than the full vacuum.

Anova Customer Service is Stellar!
My 20-month-old Anova vacuum sealer was starting to lose the vacuum in bags before it could be sealed. I would hear the vacuum escape with a faint squeal, and be ready to hit the cancel button. I used this machine heavily on a daily basis and figured the gasket might be worn out. Anova does not sell replacement gaskets, but generic vendors do. I contacted Anova to find out about gasket replacement. The service rep delved into the issue deeper and asked me to describe what was actually happening as I had a 2-year warranty which would expire in June, it's now March. He asked for photos of the unit, quickly determined to send me a new one, and sent me a prepaid UPS shipping label to return the old one. His response time was phenomenal. The only other companies that I have experienced this level of customer service was Waterpik (on at least 3 occasions) and Shokz headphones. Very impressive. I LOVE this vacuum sealer after being disappointed with 3 or 4 previous brands. It's reliability and performance has saved many groceries and preserved leftover and frozen foods. It's an excellent machine at a fair price.

Second time using it, and stopped working altogether; the lights come on for 2 seconds and stop
The bag does not seal for a long time. It worked for cheese and kept it tightly sealed for a few days. However, the strawberry bag was loose after a few hours; I tried with fewer fruits, and the same issue occurred. I also tried with fresh herbs, and it did not keep it sealed tight. Today I was going to try a vacuum seal bowl, but it stopped working altogether; the lights come on for 2 seconds and stop. This is only the 2nd time I am using it, and I am very disappointed. It's a return to AMZ.

Anova Culinary Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro - A Great Little Machine!
After many years of normal use my Foodsaver FM5400 stopped pulling a vacuum. The Anova Culinary Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro worked out of the box. I had 2 packages in ziplocks in the freezer from when my Foodsaver failed. Pulled them out & sealed them in 8" & 11" wide Foodsaver Roll bags. Holds these bags in the machine & vacuumed & sealed easily. Read reviews about the Anova being slow but seemed fine to me. Nice to have a double seal. Wish there was the automatic seal when you cut a new bag as the Foodsaver had but not a deal breaker & the smaller size makes it easy to store. Can't wait to really this machine through its paces. Would defiantly recommend this Vacuum Sealing machine.

Great sealer, but has ‘personality’
I love many things about this sealer: the double seal, the fact it starts sealing while pump is running, the low profile etc. Unfortunately I have had reliability issues , described below and found a workaround.About 6 m after I purchased, the vacuum pump wouldn’t draw a vacuum after working perfectly for several runs. It ran with a normal sound but wasn’t sucking air. Thus began a customer service journey where I was first sent a unit where the pump didn’t activate at all, then a refurbished unit that seemed good. However, it is now exhibiting the same symptoms as before: after sealing several bags, the vacuum pump runs but doesn’t draw air. At first I thought the warm sealer surface was the problem, but the pump also wasn’t drawing air through the tubing.Happily, I have discovered that a bad behavior ‘time out’ of several minutes restores function. Thus it is the ‘devil I know’ and I just go with it.

A Very Good Product at a very reasonable price.
I 've had a Weston vacuum sealer for 7 years, and have been generally satisfied. However, on a whim, I decided to buy the Anova Pro Sealer model, and boy am I glad I did. It was quieter, faster, and weighed about 1/2 as much as the Weston (easier to wrestle out of its storage drawer in my kitchen.) I haven't used the roll of bags it came with so I can't speak to the attractiveness of that feature, but so far it is an absolute winner.

Would buy again
Works well. But sealing of seam is very slow. But like double seal. Doesn’t take up much counter space

Works very well, but requires some care
The sealer is easy to use, but I have found one issue. I sealed a bunch of bags of precious coffee beans. This machine even sucked the air out of the factor-sealed bags. The bags were hard as bricks when it's done, and have stayed that way for the last week.I had no sealing failures until I got near the end of the roll. I found it very difficult to get the edge of the bag to lay completely flat over the vacuum tray because the bags want to curl too much. My solution is to have at least 2 inches of bag sticking out, and to use the pulse vacuum to manually get the process started. This way, you can quickly detect a wrinkle that is causing a leak and stop the process to fix it. Saves a lot of bags. Once partially evacuated manually, I push the" vacuum and seal" button to let the machine finish the process normally. Small things, like burger patties, do not seem to be any problem.Just to be sure, I tried Wevac and FoodSaver bags and had similar issues sealing the big bean bags. I'd give Anova a slight edge in ease of use over the bargain and $$ brands.
