Will this base accommadate 16 oz Coleman propane bottles?

Not long enough in my opinion as the unit is not very stable even with the lets out. Each leg is about 2".

Is inside the base solid or not solid?

The inside base is semi solid. It has a opening in the bottom,but it has a solid rim to it with lobes casting inward to support lantern. Hope this info helps. :-

Does this base fit a 14.1 oz bernzomatic propane cylinder?

Yes, this base hold firmly any 14.1 or 16.4 / 17.4 bottle from Walmart, Sears, Etc, not just Bernzomatic. If you like buying a specialty bottle with a plastic foot or base this probably won't work as it is made for a STANDARD bottle.
