Just what we needed!
My son has a learning disability and has had trouble with math his entire academic career. He did unsurprisingly abysmally on his PSAT, so I made it my job to tutor him to prepare for the SAT. We tried another book first, but it was a disaster. The problems were way above his ability to handle, and the explanations didn't help. A tutor friend recommended Steve Warner's books. I'm so glad she did. We began with the beginner book and got halfway through the intermediate book before he took the test. The intense angst my son had felt vanished overnight, he felt much more confident in his ability to handle the work, he progressed well, and, because of the well-designed upward spiral of difficulty levels and repetition, he remembered much of it, which is always the biggest issue for him. He scored 170 points higher on his SAT math than he had on his PSAT, which is an especially huge feat for a kid with his math issues. Thank you, Steve Warner!

Good Strategies for Multiple-Choice Problems
Dr. Warner emphasizes solving multiple-choice problems both by plugging in the answer choices and by working out the problem as if it weren't multiple-choice. I think this is valuable for many students who don't understand how critical it is to approach problems on a timed test according to whatever strategy will produce the fastest result. I'm working through this book with my daughter and may follow up with his more advanced book if she completes this one soon enough.

Good start for SAT preparation.
My son is planning to take SAT in 8th grade and he started familiarizing with the test using this book. It contains relatively easy problems, but they are a perfect difficulty level for my 8th grader (and possibly for a high schooler struggling with math). Good and easy start for an important test.

I am disappointed. This won't be a great resource for me
Bought this to use as an extra resource for tutoring SAT, specifically to use with my weaker students. I am disappointed. This won't be a great resource for me. For example there are very few data problems. Data represents almost 30% of the new SAT math.
