A Little Princess

A must read classic for young children
I learned a lot about what it means to be a "princess on the inside" from reading this book when I was young. Recently reread it and it still holds up. Lots better than any of the movies ever made of it.

Don’t download this version on kindle
I feel so bad for whoever buys this version for the kindle. The story is wonderful but the person or technology that put this into ebook format did a horrible job. Giant chunks missing, bad grammar (likely just missing words and punctuation). This is not an accurate representation of the actual work.

Great for a family story during a school break. Independent readers will love it too.

"'i am a princess , and I am a fairy one..." (p. 368).
<A LITTLE PRINCESS is yet another quite precious story from the pen of Frances Hodgson Burnett, and one which is very much akin to THE SECRET GARDEN. Both stories cover the adventures and fates of little girls. Both do so in a magical sort of way.Is a thorough knowledge of British history necessary to the appreciation of either story? I don't really think so. Let it suffice to know the history of Great Britain as it pertains to India. That's quite enough.I'll forego, in this instance, my usual list of citations. Burnett's prose is clear, mellifluous, to the point -- even if not remarkable. No, the prize here is the story itself. Go do yourself a favor and read it.RRBHudson, New York21 June 2021

Not worth it and it's free
This is the worst rendering of a kindle book I've ever seen. It is a book I have read before, but this edition was "translated" into something incomprehensible!

the book was totally falling apart very difficult to read when pages fall out as u open the book!!
Arrived with pages falling out, not seals into the spine of the book!! The text was so close to every edge of each page and very small. Would not recommend at all... the quality of the book is awful and not at all what I expected however what would I have expected for £3 something???

Rather predictable
Didn't enjoy ghis. Too saccharin, all turning out right in the end, little girl is too good to be true

Children classic
A little princess on the surface looks like it is a kid’s book but when one ponders upon the underlying theme of coping with loss through imagination, it turns out to be one of the most profound books. Sara is a little princess of her father and nicknamed the same by her friends. But when her father dies while she is still young, how will that perception save her? I really liked Sarah’s character and the writing style of the book. It is a remarkable book that has been adapted into many movies and TV shows. I liked this author’s Secret Garden which is the only reason I even thought of picking this book up and I am amazed how beautifully the author is able to create such books which are both light-hearted yet make one wonder about the depth of the story. It is a children’s book which adults can enjoy as well. The characters are all written out to be realistically young, yet they possess the quality of mature characters. Once can easily understand why this book is also one of the classics.

Uplifting
This book basically belongs to kids who are like 9-10 years of age because it's a sweet book about a small girl Sara Crewe, a motherless child and her struggle.I'll summarize the story in short. This story revolves around a motherless child named "Sara Crewe" who is raised in India by her wealthy father who later sent her to London for her schooling and since she is afforded every luxury other students starts calling her "Princess" some because of jealousy while others because of awe and affection. When Sarah suffers a lost and is suddenly left penniless, she is relegated to the life of a servant in a cold, lonely attic room, where, she is ill-treated by Miss Minchin, but her always brilliant imagination becomes her saving grace. Throughout, she remains a magnanimous "princess" who feels best when she is helping others; the wonderful stories she invents, and her kind heart, earn her true friends and eventually lead her to a new home. What I can say is that this novel is beautifully crafted with the power of imagination of Sarah Crewe.Any female reader could connect to her and also there is something wonderfully compelling about Sarah's attic room, which is transformed from cold blankness to a magical place.Overall this book is a wonder for small kids.
