Not a professional
I replaced my 20 year old Andis clippers with this selection.A few words of caution to explain the rationale for not giving a 5 star rating.I have always used this brand clippers to groom my Australian Shepherds. Many people who have this breed don’t clip them. My dogs have always appreciated the reduction of their hair in our extremely hot climate. I’m not a professional but after years of experience I have had great results and the same experience with these new clippers. This is a great way to save money on professional grooming. I usually pay 3x more than the price of these clippers for grooming 2 dogs. I had my last pair 20 years. have not used my clippers for a few years because it is so much more convenient to take the dogs to a professional. Quarantine has caused me to turn back to my former self grooming practice.Consult a professional resource to research the best way to groom your breed. Mind the armpits the skin stretches here and you can without realizing cause a little cut. Stop and clean off the guard and replace every single time it is hairy; if the guard comes off you can give your dog a ‘dog-mom haircut’ look. You probably should dedicate a few hours to complete the project and select a cool day if working outside.I’m sorry for all the additional unsolicited advice before the constructive product feedback. After 30 minutes or so the clippers get warm and need a break. I’m sure the dog needs one too. Additionally the vibration of the clippers causes a little bit of a tingling feeling in hand. I’m satisfied with the product it met my expectations.

If I had it to do over again, I would not buy these clippers.
We bought these clippers in 2013 to give haircuts to our pomeranian (he gets too hot in the summer with his long fur). We had previously owned another pair of Andis clippers and used them for a long time until they quit working, so we decided to replace them with another pair of Andis clippers hoping to have the same luck. Unfortunately, this clipper hasn't done as well.As some other reviewers said, it will get the job done, but that's about it. As I recently cut our dog's hair in preparation for this summer, the problems are fresh in my mind. If using a plastic guard, it gets clogged pretty easily. The plastic guard also pulls our dog's hair to the point it makes it harder to cut his fur (and although he's a trooper, you can tell it is uncomfortable on him). The metal guard doesn't get clogged nearly as easily, but it also is easier to get too close to the dog's skin with just using the metal guard. The on/off switch is in a horrible spot. The noise level of the clipper is very good, having it be quiet helps keep our dog calm, but the on/off switch makes a loud popping noise as you hit it. With the switch being in the spot it is, you end up accidently hitting it frequently, which then makes the loud popping noise, and with our dog, it ends up making him jump. With his initial haircut this year, I had to take several breaks to allow the clippers to cool down. Maybe if your dog isn't as furry, this won't be an issue. However, you really only have about 30 minutes (maximum) before the clippers start to get so hot that they are uncomfortable to hold. These clippers will be fine for me to use for the rest of the year to give him touch-ups, so I will continue to use them until they no longer work or until I find a better product at a price that is affordable to me. But when it comes to buying new clippers, I would not repeat buying these nor would I recommend them for anyone.

Economic Grooming Tool...It's not Perfect
I bought this for less than 20 BUCKS from Warehouse Deals when our ancient clippers quit working. Sons groomed the dogs for years for spending money. I hadn't paid a professional in years. With them "out of the nest", well you can figure out the rest. Grooming sticker shock + tip made me RAPIDLY replace the old clippers, refresh my dog grooming "skills" via YOUTUBE's "Dog Grooming Tips". You may find some videos SPECIFICALLY for your breed of dog! Mine is a mutt with Spaniel in the mix, there were plenty of spaniel type videos to choose from. The clippers worked well, the attachments and extras are great, my kit came with scissors too. I'm very happy with the kit. The kit is aptly named QUICK-Cut. The blade and the clipper body get hot fast. I have to pay close attention so the pooch stays comfy while I'm doing his 'do. It doesn't shut off but the "warm blade" alert from the dog isn't pleasant.Since I only have one dog this kit will do fine. IF I had a pack of dogs I would definitely upgrade to a professional kit.

Quite effective thus far...
...I had already given my Bichon Frise a scissors cut as I had let his hair/fur grow out over the winter so I used the clippers to just even out my previous work but they did just fine and really gave my pet a professional, smoothed out look. I had a bit of trouble with the bottom of his paws (I'll do a YouTube tutorial before my dog's next trim) and the shin area was a bit tough for me, but after several passes with the number one attachment, it looked pretty good. I should have taken him for one last professional trim and REALLY paid attention and ask questions about blade numbers. But he's not a show-dog so he looks just fine and I'm already about 30 bucks ahead of the game!

Good for amateur!
I was waiting, with much anticipation, for my new clippers to arrive. Once they arrived, I immediately, once I got home after work, began trying them on my Yorkie. They did GREAT! I had been using another brand for the past 3 years and had become so frustrated that I looked up on the internet what would be a good pair of dog clippers for an amateur. I found that these Andis clippers were recommended. I am glad that I purchased them even though I found a couple of negative reviews. I have nothing negative to say about them. The following day, after grooming my Yorkie, I went to my mothers and groomed her Yorkie! At this point, I am a happy customer.
