A book with twists and turns!
In the novel Found, by Margaret Peterson Haddix, the two main characters, Jonah and Chip learned that secrets in this world can be solved. Jonah gets a mysterious letter and Chip also got one. After they read their letters their futuristic journey begins. Katherine, Jonah’s sister, wanted to help Jonah and Chip solve the mystery too. Found was the most thrilling, exciting, fascinating, frightening book to read because of the plot with so many twists and turns that the characters experience.Jonah Skidmore is an adopted child. He is in 7th grade and best friends with Chip. He sometimes gets overwhelmed, like the time when Katherine and Chip were reading the document from Mr. Reardon, an FBI agent. Katherine Skidmore is not adopted, and she helps Chip and Jonah solve the mystery of where they were really from. Katherine is the average annoying little sister to Jonah. For example, when she threw a fit after Mom and Dad had told her about the meeting that Jonah was going to about his adoption. She threw the fit because she wanted to go with them, but her parents weren’t going to let her come to the meeting. Chip is also adopted like Jonah. He is in the same grade as Jonah. In this book, Chip reminds me of Dipper from Gravity Falls, because once Chip is solving the mysterious letter, he can't stop until it's solved. Also, Chip might have a little crush on Katherine. Even though, Jonah, Chip and Katherine have some problems along the way, these three work together to solve the mystery of Jonah and Chip’s adoption. On the other side of the story is Mr. Reardon, he is an FBI agent. He is very strict and sometimes mean, like the time when he had a meeting with Jonah, Katherine, Mom and Dad. Maybe, it’s because he was hiding something about Jonah’s adoption story. Later in the story, when Chip, Jonah, and Katherine find themselves trapped along with 30 other kids that have a similar adoption story, Chip and Jonah’s true adoption story is revealed and they learn some other secrets that they didn’t even know about before. I highly recommend this book for kids and teens that love thriller books and futuristic stories with twists and turns.By the way, Margaret Peterson Haddix, the amazing author, has written 46 books and her newest book is Return of the Snowflakes. She had won 67 awards for her writing. Margaret was born in Washington Court House, Ohio.

Found, The Missing. A phenominally facinating novel!
REVIEW-Melody Dempsey FOUND,THE MISSING. Young Jonah was adopted when he was 3 months old. He always knew he had been adopted. His friend, Chip, found out just recently, that he too, was adopted. A Mysterious letter showed up in Jonah's mailbox. A plain white envelope held this mysterious letter. Chip received the same letter as Jonah did. Jonah thought that this letter was most likely a prank from a fellow 7th grader. Chip did not share Jonah's thoughts about this letter. A little while later, another, more ominous letter showed up again, in both of the boys mailboxes. This time Jonah, (even though he said that it was probably another 7th grade pranker), had his doubts. Chip maintained his stance that these letters were real. The boys, along with Jonah's sister, Kathrine, decided to first look into some information about Chip's adoption. Chip's parents had a safe, which the kids decided to break into. They found a file with a sticky note on it, with a phone number... This was the start of the three teens starting their own investigation into the questions about Chip's adoption and about the two mysterious letters that the boys received in the mail. Their continued curiosity and intensifying determination to find out where the letters came from, leads the three teens on a wild goose chase, at first.... thus, leading them into a world of intrigue and danger... leading Jonah and Chip to the truth about who they REALLY are!

fun premise for this series starter
Our family has only recently discovered author Haddix, and we love her work! How could we not know about her -- she's written a ton of great books! This book, Found, is the first of a series with a fascinating premise. It begins when an airline worker sees a plane just appear at a terminal, though no one gets off the plane and no one knows where it came from; when she eventually boards the plane to investigate, she finds dozens of babies strapped in to the seats, but no adults in sight! The action jumps forward to a boy named Jonah. He knows he's adopted and has a healthy perspective on it until he begins receiving anonymous warnings that someone is coming after him, and he recruits his sister and his best friend to help him figure out what's going on.Haddix writes in a smooth style that is fine for reading silently or aloud. The dialogue is believable. I don't think the writing is perfect: often it is slow going and the adults seem incompetent if well meaning, and that's something I really don't like about a lot of kids' books. That said, this woman has a heck of an imagination -- book after book has such amazing ideas.SPOILER ALERT: While this book is sometimes glacial in terms of action, it's hard to beat the premise. Remember that plane that showed up full of babies? It turns out that an organization has been taking history's "missing children" (the Lindbergh baby, the Princes in the Tower, etc) and putting them up for adoption. What a cool thought! Unfortunately, we never find out who our protagonists really are, which is a letdown. One presumes later books in the series will deal with various displaced children and their stories.Great plot executed pretty well. If your child loves action stories, this might not cut it. But if they want literature that's idea- or character-driven, you've landed upon a great author and a compelling series.

A great sci-fi mystery for kids!
Just a little into this novel, and your kids might be drawn into wanting to know what happens next. The novel starts with an adopted kid who has no interest in knowing who his real parents are. He is happy with his friends and family now, and does now want any drama, but what happens when he starts receiving threatening messages and discovers he is not the only adopted kid in his area? In fact, his whole neighbourhood is full of them!As his sister and friend try to unlock the truth, the main character finds himself pulled along as well, and he finds he either has to step up, take control, and face that there is no going back, or risk the dangers of doing nothing.Great gift for kid readers!
