Penn Squadron III Surf Spinning Fishing Rod

Have bought the 8,9,10 foot mediums. They are very light. Eyelets are very robust and strong. The reel seats and threads are still plastic with a paper thin chrome wrap. They cast fantastic with different reels. They are on the stiffer side but when a 30 inch, marauding bluefish slams you, you'll be happy its stiffer. Then 10 foot medium launches 4 ounces really well. Im always 100 to 120 yards with that weight and im certainly no great caster. The 8 and 9 foot rods do nicely when fishing artificials. Stiff enough to jig with and with enough give to keep jerkbaits and plugs feeling and looking real in the water. If you want the super sensitivity of an ultralight, get special line and learn how to use your fingers. I've had a mixed bag of deliveries with Amazon fishing rods. The ones that are shipped with ups,fed ex, Amazon always come in just a plastic bag regardless of rod brand. The ones that have shipped with USPS always come in a box. When buying Amazon rods now, I always check the shipping and if it says shipped via usps(shipping couriers aren't always visible) I buy from that seller.

Great surf rod that I bought to pair with Penn Slammer 4500 reel. 10' rod Balances great with reel. Med has lots of flex when plugging in surf and strong enough to handle big cow bass and blues. My go to rod for bass fishing 3 seasons now. Quality sturdy rod materials hold up well in the surf

I’m sure the rod is great, but I wouldn’t know. Amazon delivered it missing the top half. I returned it for a replacement, the replacement was again missing the top section of the rod. Now I’m only eligible for a refund and the price has gone up if I want to order it again. On top of that, I’ve had to make two out of the way trips to a UPS store to return both wrong items. Penn gear is great, but Amazon can’t seem to deliver on this one.

Perfect. I bought it for crabbing with snares. It worked out great and didn't break! Also no damages and packaging was good. No complaints here.

So far so good. Haven't caught anything large enough to test it's strength yet but it casts great. Consistently casts 3oz pyramid weights with a pompano rig well near 100 yards if not more

Well My Daughter gave me a Amazon gift card for Christmas , I was watching for the Holiday deals for a ligther Surf rod for flounder and bay fishing . I match it with a Penn Pursuit IV 4000 .Series Reel . And yes it is lighter and balance set . I started using it in May , but weather and fishing finally amp up the end of July for Sandy Hook NJ . But it really got tested this Sunday with one keeper 20 inch. Flounder , A large ray and 5 shorty Flounder return to the water . This rod handle it all . the Sensitivity , Power on setting the hook and the controlling the fight to the boat was out standing .
